Depends on where you live. Here is a 1973 12'x 64' for $135,900 in FL. CA has some expensive used trailers too.

Seven years ago my eife and I were in a 3000+ square foot home. Multiple car garage. Pool. And it was just us.

I bought an office trailer frame for $500 bucks and built a sub 600 square foot house on the frame. Spent under 10k doing it all myself.

Dropped it back by the barn, turned the barn into a huge carport and outdoor patio and sold the house. Saved a ton of money over the past 7 years. No car notes. No house notes. No insurance on it. Just hanging out.

It bumped us ahead 15 years financially if not more.

We're building a new house in the next few months, and just bought a house a few months back in biloxi for the hell of it.

Nothing wrong with a trailer as long as it doesn't define your life.

If you're on beach Blvd tonight, you'll see ol Rando drinking bourbon and lemonade on his porch

Sounds like you are trying to be fiscally sound. Nothing wrong with that.

All these people who are bashing people for living in trailers probably paid $250k for a house that was barely built up to code, in a neighborhood where there are at least 4 or 5 houses owned by the bank... But no one is judging you for having to "keep up with the jones".

I’ve done it more than once. The first one while I was in college in ‘02. Were chip
and Joanna on tv then?

Go for it dude. Who cares what anyone else thinks. And for the ones that judge you they don’t need to be in your life anyway

Smart move really. The only drawback for trailers is that they are not the beat shelter during bad weather. Maybe you should look into something that I think is called modern homes.

You need to make 4 extra payments a year to keep up with depreciation.

I am single and have my own house. Frankly I'm getting sick of it. Sucks my finances dry and honestly IDGAF about granite countertops and crown molding. Seems like there is always something that needs repaired or improved.

If I had to do it over I don't think I'd buy a trailer house though. They aren't cheap and depreciate fast. Might buy a travel trailer and live in that while my all metal shop/house/shed is being built. I would have no problem with my boat parked in my living room. Screw all expenses and upkeep of a traditional house.

A decent trailer, like the one pictured in the OP, is going to cost you 60-80k. Unless you keep it in good shape and eventually rent it out, it will never be worth anything close to what you paid for it. Better to build a small house on some acreage or buy a fixer upper in a good neighborhood

That probably makes sense in a rural area but if I were single I wouldn’t be living in a rural area. I’d be in the middle of a large city where the single women are

Single women live outside of the city too.
