I put mine on silent every night and back to on at 6:30 or 7 or so.

My phone stays on silent but I have a setting that allows full volume ring from family and friends just in case of emergent

You don't charge it when you sleep?
Posted on 6/24/20 at 11:15 am to A Menace to Sobriety
Bro you've never heard of silent mode before?

I keep mine on Do Not Disturb overnight. However, it will still allow calls from my favorite contacts which are my family members, boss, and drug dealer (naturally).

This is when normal people are charging their phone. Try it.

Normal people do not do this either.
Most modern phones have a do not disturb function.
I wonder how some people get by with a seeming inability to think through some of the most basic things in life.

I leave mine on silent (no vibrate) at night.

I used to also. But now that my dad has heart issues, I keep it on.

Mine goes on silent but I never turn it off

I'm kind of an arsehole, so I really don't understand why anyone would call me in an emergency. I am not a health care professional. If someone croaks me knowing about it in the middle of the night won't change the reality. I imagine when Jr gets old enough to go out and play I will have to make an exception.

Mine is set to go in and out "do not disturb" mode at certain times.....the only calls and text that are allowed are the ones on my favorites list

My phone is also my alarm clock. So I dont have the option to cut it off at night, unless it's a Friday night and I have nothing planned on Saturday

You are a menace

I don't, emergencies may happen

but what about if some emergency happens?
Most everyone concerned will be fine.
I like cell phone technology. But I also remember growing up without them.
I and my friends started going to the hunting and fishing camps without adults when we were 13 years old.
Out in the marshes and the GOM for a week at a time. I’d tell my Momma about where we were going( we camp jumped a lot) and that I would be home in a week or so.
Sometimes we had access to a VHF radio, most times not. And we made it without phones.
I put mine on silent.

I'm not even using it and have my phone go off at 4 AM every night because of someone texting or calling me.

I'll just talk to them when I wake up. Might make me an arse, especially if there happens to be an emergency I suppose.
Not sure what type of phone you have, but you can set it to Do Not Disturb so only calls/texts come over, but then from there, you can also set it to only allow certain people's calls/texts to come through. Just do that, only allow the important people in your life's messages to come over while you're asleep.

I get almost zero nonscheduled phone calls, much less at 4AM.
And I have a separate work phone which is turned off
