It annoys me too. Another annoyance is when someone asks how you are doing, you answer, “Fine. How are you?” Then they say, “Fine. Thank you for asking.” I feel like saying, “You’re welcome, and BTW thank YOU for asking, too!”

I prefer having the counter help talking on her phone and ignoring me for five minutes, then asking "what you want" in a tone that says she means "what you want mother fricker."

Why they gotta tell you anything? Do 'you' people just love fakeness? OP is right, none of them get any real pleasure from bringing you your food or working the cash register at the gas station. Even them saying thanks is a stretch, but my pleasure is total bs. I'm not so mad at them saying it, but more mad at them not using the proper word to describe how they really feel. Just a lack of respect for the meaning of words.

They aren't being nice. They are being Fake. Do they say "My Pleasure" after every sentence when they are talking to family and friends? NO. they don't.

They are being forced to say this and it's annoying and cringeworthy hearing it everywhere these days.
