No need to compare yourself to others. Make sure you’re happy with your life. That’s all that matters

Most of them are living paycheck to paycheck. They don’t really have it like that

All these other places are child's play in comparison to Park Cities in Dallas.

I also imagine the Northeast outside of NYC is a whole different ballgame as well that many of us southerns just have no idea about.

Rented out a house to a guy that has TWO new high-end German cars that he leases.

I looked over his application and asked if he had any savings. His response was:

"No, but I have a $30,000 line of credit."

Note: He has been there for years and has not missed a payment, for what it's worth.

Wife drives a 2009 Toyota.

As others have said, they are taking on debt and not saving for retirement or kid’s education.

Not sure if it can be tested, but my theory is that social media is really turbocharging the “Keeping up with the Jones’” effect, which is leading to more economic anxiety amongst middle and upper-middle class families. People see TikToks and Instagram Reels of seemingly glamorous families taking luxurious vacations, buying new cars, wearing stylish clothes, etc and feel inadequate if they cannot keep up.
