if the roles are reversed he should throw you overboard and have you swim back

This is nuts. I can’t imagine the world of trouble I’d be in if I pulled this kinda stunt on my FIL. Life would be hell for me for a long time.

You’re a huge fricking arse for doing it, but at the same time, I respect the balls it took to go through with it.

But glad you stayed the entire game since so many left. Next time maybe just communicate better.

I can’t blame anyone for not wanting to leave at halftime. I think it’s also a dick move for the FIL to want to leave when he knows good and well his SIL is a big fan, and the first game he’s been to in a while.

Still, can’t leave him in the tunnel and just ghost him for 2 hours

No, it would be different if your FIL had got sick or something. He knew before hand what time the game started and what time y’all would be getting back home. The rain wasn’t a surprise, and the game being a blowout is irrelevant. He should have never agreed to go if he didn’t want to stay the entire time.

Let me see if I understand you correctly, your friend, nephew, and you are sitting together. Let me guess your FIL offered to sit in your friend’s seat to let you and your friend sit together.
Did it occur to you maybe your FIL paid for the tickets? Doing something nice for his son-in-law and giving his daughter and wife time together at the baby shower.
To answer the question, yeah you’re a huge a-hole but a bigger pussy for not just manning up and telling FIL you want to stay.

The baby lead in was why she thought it would be a great idea for us all to go. He was outside under a tree. He was pissed and bitched about everything. After the south Alabama’s pa announcer is better than Lsu comment he fell asleep. We live on the coast about 2hrs 20min ride. He and my nephew (10) complained all day. My nephew was upset his cell phone died and needed a cube to charge his phone. I will say once my nephew sat with me and my buddy he had fun and wanted to stay.

God love you.

When I got to "outside under a tree" I laughed my arse off.

Verdict: Not a jerk

The reason I asked was other posters were referring to OP financial situation that he must of edited out. Sounds like three tickets were purchased and the friend bought a single.
