Construction workers in Germany digging along the North Sea’s rugged coast discovered a massive World War II relic painted with evidence of its dark past. According to archaeologists in the district of Cuxhaven, about 58 miles northwest of Hamburg, experts recently excavated a nearly complete Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) assault vehicle. The remnants of this formidable tank have been buried in the sand beneath the Nordholz naval air base for over 80 years.

Visible gun barrel markings suggest the nearly complete StuG III took down at least 17 enemies.

And yes, I’ve built this one.

Crazy to think what the world could be like if they won

It's crazy when we find artifacts from ancient societies like this

Hell of a lot more monocles and facial scars, that's for sure

It was just 80 years ago.....I wouldn't consider it ancient.

I hope they let someone buy it for restoration and not scrap it.
That is an amazing find. Love your STUGS also, good work.

All the hard work Charlie Chaplin did making the toothbrush mustache a symbol of the lovable tramp was erased by genocidal Hitler.
Cool tank though.

It’ll buff out nicely.
Been buried in moist sand for 81 years.
What started out as wonderful Krupp steel is iron oxide now.
When we got there, we just buried shite. Parts of and whole planes, armor, artillery, vehicles, whatever.

I would argue if Germany had won WW1 the world would be better off.

Some things might be better, some things might be worse, some things might be the same.

And those things that are different might be better, worse, or neutral.

I'd like to see one of those YouTube restoration channels throw it in a electrified tank of baking soda and get it running

facial scars
Those were called dueling scars. Those were scars the German military elite would purposely get in fencing matches. They’d protect their eyes and use foils that could tear the skin. When they’d get a good cut, they had a process to encourage the scarring. Crazy stuff.
