Without googling, do you know why? Not that exotic of a reason but if you are a car watcher it is one of those ‘once you start seeing this on cars you can’t not see it’ sort of things.

You wanna draw some red lines in paint so we can know what the frick you're talking about?

ETA: I think he's talking about the body of the vehicle above the wheels. There's a flat semi circle

The lip of the fender in the wheel well?

I get it now. And I don’t know why.

It has to do with crash safety.
Eta, that little crease makes the metal stronger.
Think of a flat piece of steel vs corugated steel

Increases structural rigidity of the panel.

The flat area provides mechanics a better leverage point for prying off the brake rotors.

If you follow the curve around the wheel well, there is a flat surface on the outside of the fender that follows the curve. That’s what he’s talking about.

I'm going with "it's a stiffener". Hard bends in metal that have a kink provide cold working and stiffen the metal piece. The bent portion also provides resistance to bending in a second plane, limiting the number of directions a piece of metal can easily bend. Think of how much more resistant to bending a piece of angle iron is over a flat piece of metal. The flat piece will bend in one plane, but if you try to bend it across the short side, you're getting nowhere. The angle iron provides two directions resistant to bending and is MUCH stiffer.

All the things in the world to think about, and you pick this shite.

I had to guess, it's for stability of the panel

Winner. It is a common way to stiffen the panel on vehicles that are using thinner sheetmetal these days. Most older cars don’t have this because of thicker metal.

It’s just the current style but it’s not really a new “theory”. I picked out a random mid-90’s car and you can see there’s a bend in the wheel well on these. It’s flares out. But the bend serves the same purpose...

IMO I don't think it matters; the sheet metal is so thin that crease ain't gonna do shite for ya
