Don't get them. DSW makes them stay below a maximum price. That means they have to cut corners to stay under.

My advice? You can get good used Allen Edmonds on ebay. THey can be recrafted. My dress black shoes are actually AE Fairgates. Haven't been made in over ten years. Got them on Ebay. Trip to the cobbler and voila. look and feel like brand new. Paid all of $80 on Ebay. They fit my feet better than Park or Fifth avenues.

There are also seconds by AE. Go to shoebank.com. Normally you can call the store and the rep will look at the shoe and tell you what the flaw is. I have several pair where it is almost impossible to find the flaw.

If you don't like either of those options. just save. There is the Great American Sale in September.

Why waste $120 for a shoe that has a glued sole and will fall apart in a couple of years when for another $100 and patience, you can get a much better shoe that will last you 10-20 years.

As for Florsheim? Cheap arse crap today. They USED to be top notch shoes. In fact, used Imperials on ebay are highly prized.

Have been disappointed in my last two Johntson & Murphy's and their durability.

Thinking about pulling trigger on the Southside Plain for a nice casual shoe.

They make a solid shoe.

The JM Aristocraft shoes are still good but you pay for those.

Rest of them are cheap leather, fake stitching, glued soles

I used to feel that way till I got tired of paying $100-$150 for shitty shoes. Finally broke the AE seal. They’re better, more comfortable, more durable and resoleable.

You cannot even find leather soles dress shoes that aren’t glued together with any of the lesser brands.

Get the renovatuer for leather conditioner and the cream for polish. Those shoes sat on shelf for awhile so condition leather, then polish.

You can get Woodlore shoes trees also on the Woodlore website. I recommend the Epic shoe tree below which has a decent size heel (unlike some models). Woodlore's Boss boot tree is also great for boots.

I'm an E and EE. They fit me fine. They also make EEE.

That's the problem with many manufacturers. They only made D. Take Thursday Boot. Nice looking boots and shoes. Aside from the Thursday drop when the cork prematurely wears out, they are well made. Only a couple of models are in E/EEE. The rest are all D. I run into that problem over and over. Guess who makes E and EEE? AE and Alden, the more expensive ones.
