Houston is a dump. Takes forever to get anywhere and you feel like you are in Mexico.

I thought most people here lived in a Houston or Dallas suburb

Nola hate on the OT is the equivalent of the Poli Board hate when you say something the tiniest bit even inferentially minutely sort of negative about Dear Leader.

It's getting harder and harder to tell the gimmick posts on this site.

In the 1980s there were more Salvadorans in Houston than El Salvador

They are ruining a great city, the city of my birth

Neat, you took a picture of Galveston.

I’m trying to figure out why his redneck arse thinks those houses are gay pride symbols

All of the hate that NOLA gets is unwarranted.
Some of it is certainly warranted, maybe even most of it…but sure yea not all.
I really hope the pendulum can swing back some for New Orleans, save those (positive) things that make it special.

What does Nola offer that those other cities don’t? Architecture? You’re going to choose what city you live in based off of architecture?

I have been to Mexico. Every gas station in Houston has a Mexican food truck. Ran into several people who spoke no English.

Houston probably is my least favorite place to be in this country. Hate it. Way too many ppl. Traveling is a nightmare - crime rates aren’t much better than NOLA - trying staying in Channelview for a night.

Someone earlier in the thread said Nola is the best food scene in the world.
This is the level of provincial delusion we’re dealing with here.
Columbus, Indiana has some badass architecture. I’m not gonna effin live there, fool. I wisely moved from Nola to Utah. We got God’s architecture.

NOLA has some beautiful areas. And not just on St Charles Ave., etc. if they would fix the potholes, get serious on crime, it would be nice. Too bad it’s a tourist town too, hate that. But since we have it, they ought to build where it’s demolished in the 9th ward for affordable housing. Time to lay Katrina to rest. NOLA East too, and heavy police presence.

The thing about Houston, or other big cities is that there are metropolitan-lite suburbs that are larger than the second biggest city in Louisiana with most of the amenities of living in the city.

in an ideal world, the east is its own municipality with its own police department and whatnot, but that could never happen

Nola is way cooler than any other city. Bohemian, the most musically cultural city, fantastic architecture, fun, exciting. And then add shrimp po boy on Reisings bread. Nowhere else!
