We were in Florida for Cindy last summer. There are some museums in Downtown Pensacola and one has a mummified cat.

Looks like about 24hrs to drift from the mouth of the River to NO on this run.

I know it's one run of many, and the data from the recon flight will help this evening, but at least most of the rainfall still seems to be to the east of the center. Landfall right up the mouth wouldn't really be a major concern for New Orleans with this scenario.

12-14 inches in 24 hours that close is still uncomfortable though.

expect a few rainy/windy days regardless of it making landfall in MS or LA

I guess my biggest worry is flooding in the surrounding areas. Anybody think I would have trouble getting back to Arkansas the next weekend?

12-14 inches in 24hrs is untenable for New Orleans at the current time. Not life threatening but probably a good amount of flood damage in certain pockets of the city.

Pretty sad time when you need a cat mummy to salvage a vacation?

This run maxes out with 22" about 80 miles due east of NO but only about 3" in NO. Small shifts in track could make a huge difference in the end result.

30 miles one way or the other is going to make a big difference in rainfall totals. The good news is that we're still 60+ hours away from the rain impacts, so people should have time to make proper precautions.

Nothing better than smoking some meat under the patio amidst a torrential downpour. I honestly cannot wait

Yeah 30 miles makes a huge difference. It shifts a bit west and a lot of people in SE LA get surprised with a deluge. Shifts a bit east and people in MS call it a dud.

He has two maps. The first is 24 hours Monday to Tuesday. The second is the grand total from now until Wednesday.

I was wondering if it was just my computer or if this was the case. Any other good places besides storm2k?
