For me the only thing I truly love watching anymore is college baseball
It’s ironic that college baseball is listed here, as it is and has been nothing more than Senior Level Travel Ball for decades. The fundamentals of the game are terrible. Baseball has lost its place in America as an egalitarian sport.
Not picking on you specifically as many others have listed college baseball, just chose to reply to your post.

This week for college basketball has been fun as hell. The whole start to the season has been great with quite a few really good games.
I hate it for the "only watch in March" types.

I hate what college football has become.
No way would I have been able to walk on at TCU like I did 15 years ago today.
It's been ruined. I used to sit my arse on the couch or at a sportsbook from first kick of the first game of the Saturday all the way to the end of the night Hawaii game, every Saturday. This year its mostly been background noise. There have been several Saturdays this year I haven't even tuned in at all.
I've been watching the NFL much more but its not what it used to be either.

I also think sports are better when we can relate to the athlete. In our childhood, players had loyalty to teams
You can only show loyalty if you have options. Is a fat, broke, ugly man who hasn’t cheated on his equally repulsive wife necessarily more loyal than a rich, handsome philanderer … or does he maybe just not have as many options?
Are all the inmates hanging out at San Quentin loyal to the Q or do they just not have the option to go to Hawaii or Bora Bora?
I will never understand why people expect all this loyalty shite in college football. Alabama fans will take a 5 star illiterate QB from Los Angeles over a 4 star valedictorian from Tuscaloosa any day of the week and then wonder why the LA kid isn’t Captain Alabama and a Rhodes Scholar all rolled into one.
The fans sure as shite aren’t going to show loyalty to a mediocre player if they can bring in someone better. Fans only want loyalty to work one way.
Loyalty in this world is a joke. Most of us would leave a company we have been at for 20 years for a rival company if they offered us a better opportunity. These players have generational wealth hanging in the balance and they are supposed to neglect that for good ole State U.
horseshite.
And what about schools are players supposed to be so damn loyal to anyway? A bunch of buildings? Professors? A curriculum? Coaches that leave all the time for selfish reasons? Fans that will boo them if they underperform? What’s so damn special about one school compared to many others? Nothing. That is the answer.

The NIL and unlimited transfer portal has ruined college sports

Football in general: every DB in the universe has to do the incomplete signal after an incomplete pass, even if they were beat and the receiver dropped it.

They've done that the last few years with the pitch clock, etc.

College Football - unbearable. 4-5 hour broadcast
Wait - they kept the TV timeouts and probably added some.
The problem with all sports now is greed. It's all about $, not product quality.

MLB kept my interest this year more than any sport has in years. College football has been meh for the last 3 years. I get into the NFL, mainly bc i bet on it a lot. Keeps it interesting. Not into the NBA anymore or much into CBB. Learning hockey bc my step son plays travel hockey and the NHL is actually pretty bad arse

Soccer - starting to watch more and more, especially Premier League, now that my son (15) plays a lot of soccer. It's amazing to me the passion the British fans have for soccer.
I tell you one thing soccer gets right. They blow the whistle for the first half it’s go time. No arsehole with a red hat on the field holding up the game for 5 more min to get some commercials in.

College basketball is not for me any longer. I love college baseball. College football is not the same as we are openlypaying players now.
I guess the excitement isn’t there anymore as I turn 57 years old.

I just have a lot more on my mind now. The youngins in my family follow sports every bit as avidly as I used to.

I dont understand all the College Football talk.
of course there is a lot going on with the NIL stuff, but if I just sit down and watch a game without knowing the teams the games look pretty much the same. I don't see how some people can say the players don't care anymore
i watched Toledo and Akron play last night. the game went to OT. It didn't look like players weren't trying

I instruct BJJ and have a background in boxing and wrestling. We have entire classes of kids that do nothing but learn jits and striking and they start at 6. I bet half don't do any other sports. I have witnessed these kids develop on our mats and then they go to high school and start wrestling. It is kinda scary how good some of these kids are going to be when they get older.

college football is better than it has been in years.
The vast majority of my friend group didn't go to a football blueblood and the consistent theme on Monday mornings is how much everyone loves this college football season.
I understand the sentiment, when Ferrari, Ducati, and Porsche have down years in their primary motorsports series or Duke has an off-year in basketball my passion wanes.
I said in an MSB thread a couple of days ago that my perfect football Saturday would be 25 unranked teams wreaking havoc on the entire top 25. This year's "any given Saturday" situation is incredible to watch if you aren't deeply attached to a blue blood unless they happen to be one of the few having a good year.

Boxing is nowhere near as fun to watch as it used to be. I rarely watch a fight anymore but back in the 70's until around the Pacquiao/Marquez era boxing was great.
The best fought the best and fighters were confident in their abilities and didn't dodge a comparable fighter. Promoters got together and made great matchups instead of protecting the record of their fighter at all costs.
College football with NIL just isn't the same, it appears the glory years are gone forever but it is still good enough to watch.

It’s because you watched Toledo and Akron. FCS playoffs should be fun, especially if we get a snow game in Montana or something.
