Unless you live in Stine land so you don't have any real Ace stores.
Stine doesn't bother me too much. The few times I've needed any customer service there they were good. The one in Broussard must print money.
I miss Davidson hardware in Houma. If you needed something obscure that place had it and some old man knew exactly which drawer it was in back in some weird dark corner of the store.

I mean
Ace IS the place for the helpful hardware folks (not man of course)

Love my ACE, one small complaint is how damn helpful they are...they have one mission it seems, get you to your desired item and get out the door.
They have such a cool selection of stuff that I sometimes want to shop around a bit. But damn, there will be 5 different people come ask me if I need help finding anything. You got to tell all 5 that you are just browsing.
Yes, that is a shitty complaint. I still make it my first stop for all items, bird seed, charcoal, propane, screws, nails, pine straw...so they get all my money.
Very few places you can leave with the bolts you came in for plus cutting board, Case knife, local honey, lump charcoal, some barbque sauce, and some pickles.

The Ace in Headland, AL is really good. The Tru-Value down the road has a little lunch counter and seating. Sells hot dogs, burgers, etc and all the locals gather to yak. It's the latter day barbershop of yore.

I worked a hardware or feed and seed store one summer in high school, I learned so damn much. I hope my kid can get on at our ACE or Petrus and get the same experience

A new Ace Hardware is opening in Metairie in that big space in Wilshire Shopping Center that used to be that fabric store. Next to Jason’s Deli.
I’m glad to see this as I don’t go to Basil’s on Transcontinental anymore since it changed owners. The service is not the same. I’ve been going to Stanfords in Kenner, the new location will be a lot more convenient for me. Hopefully they will have the service that Basil’s used to have.

I’m 30! But yeah my grandparents taught me that when I was younger and it just always seemed like a genuine thing to do that may actually help someone.

I have an amazing Ace near my house. It's not as cheap as a home depot, but I still go there for everything I can. Nice people, clean, great experience.

Love ACE! Just last night I needed a single 1/4” nut for a dryer repair. Walked into my local ACE, paid 15 cents for one, and walked out in less than 3 minutes. At HD I would have had to spend several bucks for a pack of 5 or more.
