re: About how much $ do you spend on vacations a year?

This year for my wife and I:
Hawaii-6k
New York twice-2k
Austin twice-1.5k
Savannah-1k
Destin-1k
Roughly 10k on a given year. The NYC, Austin, Savannah and Destin trips were all long-weekend trips. There was an Orange Beach trip in there somewhere, but it was a family trip that we didn't pay for.
ETA: I keep forgetting trips that I've gone on in the past 12 months

Grand cayman five days
New York City five days
New Orleans/Lafitte four days
Wisconsin for Lsu game
I may be leaving one out. All but lsu game were considered work trips. Planning Disney for December as we speak.

My trip to space and back is going to run somewhere between $2.5 - 3 million. Going on that Virgin deal with Richard Branson.
Oh, I'm also going to Gatlinburg in the Fall for a weekend.
So somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.5 - 3 million plus some change.

We spend around $25,000/year on trips. Most are trips for my son's martial arts tournaments, but we've been fortunate to visit plenty fun cities and like to try to make each trip a vacation or nice weekend mini-vacation. We've been to several cities we otherwise wouldn't have visited otherwise during that time - Chicago, Hilton Head Island, St. Louis, Washington DC, El Paso, San Antonio, Richmond, Ft. Lauderdale, Vegas, Reno, etc. If we're hitting places like Atlanta or Houston for a weekend, we'll usually just squeeze in something like the aquarium and a nice restaurant. But if we're going somewhere like Chicago, Vegas, Orlando,DC - we'll usually try to make it 5-7 days. For me it's money well spent - we're creating memories . There's nothing better than family time to spend your money on (except for maybe cars ).

We normally take one large vacation that requires plane tickets. Top that with a smaller vacation to the beach, and we're in about $5k.

Well with kids and going to Disney each year plus multiple beach vacations, it gets over 10k extremely quickly
I don't care though cause I love doing fun stuff with my kids.
I was taught years ago to not spend money on possession and spend it on experiences and memories instead

Why would you waste money traveling? Google Earth is free and more convenient.

I guess I could come off that way. That $248k in student loans won't pay itself off at an accelerated rate any other way. Trying to put an extra $36,000 a year towards them right now.

I spend a lot of my disposable income on travel. This year I did
Colorado - skiing
Cozumel- snorkeling and sailing
Chicago/Green Bay- LSU opener
Scottsdale- Golf trip
Austin- long weekend with friends
Maybe 7k?

Completely understand.
Thankfully, we are both well past that, yet he still pinches every effing penny. Asking me for receipts at 3am while leaving bars, etc...not my idea of fun.
And, his spreadsheets are elaborate as shite. Takes a little bit of the fun out of the trip.
