If they aren't visible then you can fricking walk.
Spoken like a proud ignoramus.
I have a friend who had congenital heart failure and couldn't walk very far without stopping but she looked fit. She has had a heart transplant in the meantime.
There are plenty of people with heart and lung issues who look otherwise healthy but cannot walk very far without stopping
All that being said, most of the people you see now are taking advantage of the system. Which does aggravate me for personal reasons. I grew up with an older sister who was wheelchair-bound. My mom would not even try to get a handicap tag because she felt like people who did not have help needed that more than she did for my sister and didn't get one well into my sister becoming an adult (my sister also was mentally handicapped as well).

My fave was the BMW with a handicap sticker parked across two handicap parking spaces so their car wouldn’t be dented…

I’d watched one of those exposes some years back where a news crew teamed up with a police department to essentially do surprise inspections on people when they parked in a HC spot. IIRC something like half the offenders were the adult children of elderly parents, and they’d swipe mama’s placard to go shopping.

But seriously - On the days you feel fine, maybe you shouldn't park there?
Rare occasions that I can go very far, but if I can, I don't park in the space. I also don't park in the space if there are spaces available near the handicapped spaces.
I can't speak for people who abuse the system. It's imperfect, but I should not be punished because of that or attacked because you can't SEE my health issues. I have more than a few.
Temporary tags are available for some of the examples you give. Get one if you or your child need it. When you're healed up, toss it.

Put some gum on the back of their door handle and call it a day.

I've always said that a local news crew should just sit in the parking lot at a Wal-Mart and film the people who park in the handicap spots. Maybe stick a mic in their face and ask them about their disability. That would be great TV.

Most of the violators are of a certain ethnicity that primarily votes democrat. Liberalism is a mental disorder therefore, they’re justified

Let me say this you a-hole, I'm 70 years old and look to be able bodied but I'm not. I have a bad back and can't walk long distances. And I have been approached by assholes like you in a parking lot and had a confrontation. It didn't end well for the a-hole.

After hip replacement I kept my handicap placard so I can park in extra wide spaces to keep assholes like you from denting my SUV! GFY!

Respiratory illness and also heart conditions could mean they can’t walk more than 100 feet without a break.

It used to be hard to obtain them, now you can get them on amazon

Actually it could. When my dad had cancer he couldn’t walk long distances (for him and that meant even across the parking lot) without getting seriously winded and needing to sit down. Until EOL he didn’t look much different. He was a sensitive soul that tried to please people. He would be so hurt when someone would curse him out when he would use his handicap tag. He has liver and lung cancer and it was seriously hard for him to breathe. So yes it can mean he can’t walk really.

If you’re a family member of someone with a handicap tag, and you use it for yourself when that family member is not with you, can you feel the hot flames of hell on your feet?
you should go place them under citizen's arrest until the cops you notified get there

You’re berating someone with an ongoing problem because your punk kid had a fricking ingrown toenail? Jesus

This.
I think we all realize this, but it takes no guesswork at all to know that a HUGE proportion of HC tag users are lazy pieces of fricking shite who should be shot on sight.
If you take a moment to notice this. Look at how many cars are parked in HC spots at any big box store. Many are vehicles who would not be driven by people who can’t walk.
If all these people are truly handicapped then our population is critically disabled and wouldn’t be able to even function.
My daughter is in a wheelchair so I notice these things.

Why does it even matter? How does it affect you? Are you handicapped and consistently can’t find close parking bc “healthy” people are parked there?
Yes.
