While this is true. Any handicap that would require handicap parking is visible.
So you can see congestive heart failure?
I agree it's out of control but you can;t just make assumptions either.

f they aren't visible then you can fricking walk.
My mom has TM of the spine. She can walk with a cane but has severe pain after a short amount of time. She is clearly disabled but others with the same condition and no limp or cane would also have early onset of pain after a short amount of time.

Hot take that will get tons of hate. Private businesses should not be required to offer handicap parking. And if they do offer it, it should be on their own defined terms.

That is about the worst thing a handicapped family member can do bc they know (or supposedly knows) the true needs for a handicapped tag. To park in a spot using that family members tag is down right shitty.

It heightens my anxiety when I have to walk from a far away parking spot.

how do you know they don't have tinnitus long covid? quit being so judgemental

My mom got a hip replacement and didn't limp noticeably to someone who didn't know her, but it still was not fun for her to walk a lot. Just an example.
She is in incredible shape (hip wore out from too much running and tennis), but walking a far distance in the parking lot a few months after surgery would still wear her down.
ETA:
I agree it is abused rampantly, it is just hard to see who the abusers really are. The real abuse, IMO, is a handicap tag for fat people.

Some people identify as handicapped and for you to judge them based on outward appearance is bigoted and sinister.

my parents have one for my dad - but if it is just my mom and I, and he isn't with us - I will not use it - i'm not that level trashy

I got a baw in Baton Rouge who sells the knockoff tags if you need one

Why does it even matter? How does it affect you? Are you handicapped and consistently can’t find close parking bc “healthy” people are parked there?

You’re nothing if not consistent.

I park in handicapped spots without a tag.

Perhaps God will give them a reason to need that handicap tag. Probably a bunch of them are fat asses that are just too lazy to walk.

Pretty unsurprising correlation between those placards and Cadillacs with chrome rims

need to add a "medical" level tag similar to what LSU issues, that must be renewed
someone who is fat and "cant" walk should not be on same level as wheelchair bound

So many people today park in handicap spots even without a tag.

If you’re a family member of someone with a handicap tag, and you use it for yourself when that family member is not with you, can you feel the hot flames of hell on your feet?
As a handicapped person, with a tag, I tell people to use it all of the time as long as it's not one of the van spots.

Appears to be the same people that abuse the airline pre-boarding based on my observations.
