Some predators should have live prey.

Did you not read they are euthanizing the animals first? So, no, these animals are probably not eating wild horses.

only 74,000 of those are wild. Domesticated horses aren't being eaten by predators.

They are preyed on by wolves, coyotes, mountain lions and bears.
Mountain lions are the main predator. The point being it would be unnatural to feed live domesticated horses to predators. I doubt Denmark has many that aren't domesticated.

very very few and probably not the ones youre thinking of.

Westerners Struggle to Manage Booming Wild Horse Populations
quote:
The problems in New Mexico and across the West stem largely from herd overpopulation. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management, which has managed wild horses and burros on public lands since 1971, estimates there are more than 82,000 horses and burros on federal rangelands across 10 Western states—more than three times the number of horses federal authorities say is sustainable for a healthy ecosystem. In its government spending package approved in March, Congress called the situation “a national crisis.”
But the horses that live on federal lands are just a fraction of the total wild horse population in the United States. There are around 300,000 free-roaming horses across many different jurisdictions nationwide, including on tribal lands, according to a July 2021 study in the Journal of Wildlife Management.

The zoo said it accepts donated rabbits
I once made pretty good money selling rabbits to snake owners. They like....I guess what you call teenaged rabbits, not babies, but not adults. Anyway, I had a half dozen or so people who regularly bought from me.
On the other side of the coin were the people who just had to buy their kids a rabbit around Easter time. We sold a boatload around that time of year. No doubt that most of those probably wound up being snake food in a different way.
It was good money for 10-18 year old me.

Feeding them live dogs and cats doesn’t set well with me.
Anything that’s alive should be killed prior to feeding.
Hearing the screams of a crying dog or puppy would not be pleasant.
But we’re talking about Denmark and I seriously doubt that they give a shite about an animal suffering. They probably aren’t euthanizing them and it’s best to assume they’re lying.

That’s pretty fricked up. And so is adopting dogs and cats to use as bait for dog fighting.
But hell, our society doesn’t give a frick about protecting unborn children. No surprise.

what are you talking about?
1. they arent asking for cats or dogs
2. they clearly state animals are euthanized
3. why do you think Denmark doesn't care about animal welfare? they are a modern western society. They have animal welfare acts and laws.
i appreciate your concerns but they arent even things brought up.

OK. Now tell me how many domesticated horses are being eaten by predators.
I also take issue with your source for 300K wild horses. You cite
but the BLM, Wiki, and even AI estimate the current population at no more than 80,000. Not sue which number is correct, so I'll just wait for you to answer my first question about how many domesticated horses are being lost to predators.

That's the number on federal lands.

I don't believe I weighed in on this question, and don't see it's relevancy. Is there some kind of inherited trauma or knowledge, where a domestic horse and a wild horse being eaten by a predator is different?
And domesticated livestock, including horse, cattle, goats, sheep, etc, are killed in rather large numbers currently by predators in the United States and around the world.
According to the USDA, $230 million annually of livestock is killed by predators in the United States, mostly coyotes and wolves.
Again, none of that matters. They stated in Denmark the animals would be euthanized first. I just said I would not care if they did or not.
But I grew up on a farm and I don't humanize animals.

Since when did they become scavengers?
We could ship our child predators over there to be eaten live.

neither do I. I'd wager I've killed and/or euthanized more animals than you at this point. But I do believe that using a domesticated horse ( or companion animal) as live prey is different from a feral animal being preyed upon in its natural environment.

You justified somebody buying puppies and kittens that were alive to feed their snake.
You are a sick frick.
