This may not be a popular perspective, but when you put medicine in the marketplace, where is the profit motive to cure people?

It's the same way with the food industry. Take the way cigarettes were marketed to people up until the 90s. People wonder why there's so many fatties? It isn't just a lack of will-power. Americans are being fattened on food items that are basically drugs packaged to resemble food.

Internet/Social Media is the same. Designed to maximize engagement of young people, so they will become consumers.

Executives at these companies don't let their own kids use these services/foods/medicines. They know how harmful this shite is, but they have no problem putting it out there for the masses.

It's sad, but all you can do is be aware of it and do your best to protect your own family.

She only said she heard voices after her arrest. She is very smart and is probably trying to game the system with an insanity defense.

That said, she was on SSRIs so we know she had some sort of mental issue. SSRIs are typically prescribed for depression/anxiety, but not for psychotic disorders. So it is likely some sort of mental issue is at play, but I doubt it would rise to the level of legal Insanity.

Also not sure why her parents gave her access to guns. Such lazy gun owners.

SSRIs and phones.

With the advancement of tech and the way we communicate weve never been more isolated.

Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination.

We learned to talk.

mean, she was on SSRIs. I know that's (probably) not a side effect, but who knows what those types of drugs do to young brains.

SSRIs do t cause this behavior, they are given when this type of behavior is exhibited. The old correlation/causation thing.

i'm no doctor, but seems to me that SSRI's should not be prescribed for teenagers.

Doctors are chopping dicks off teenagers and sewing twats closed these days. But yea, SSRI’s are a bad idea as well.

Just an aside, today is my two year anniversary of quitting smoking after a 30-year, pack-a-day habit. I'm going to get drunk tonight to celebrate.

The only advertising I needed was to watch my parents smoke.

Combo of meth and ssris we are pumping kids with. Kids are shooting more people.

Also we are the country on antidepressants the most.

It turns out all the drugs and all the therapy to make kids happier is just making them more depressed (generally speaking).
No. Most get on meds, get better and get off. Then there are those who fall into he perpetual complaint cycle and are reinforced by crapph caregivers.

Some of these are no win situations. Kid is aggressive on no meds and beats the hell out of a teacher or peer, "Why wasn't he in treatment on something????" Kid is aggressive on meds and beats the hell out of a teacher or peer, "See, see, the meds did this! Why was he in treatment and on something????"

You don't have to believe me. A cursory search shows that people like, Zuckerberg don't let their kids use social media. Steve Jobs, banned his kids from using the ipad in the home.

quote:

Chamath Palihapitiya, a former Facebook executive and the CEO of venture capital firm Social Capital, said in a November interview that social media is damaging society and voiced concerns about its impact on his own children.

Lunchables, creator didn't let his kids eat them.

Do you really think the executives at Coca-Cola and such let their kids drink that stuff? High Fructose corn syrup is not something you should be feeding anyone, much less kids.

But by all means, keep feeding your kids, Doritos and Oreos and letting them stare at screens all day while they "stay focused" on Adderall, Ritalin, etc.

The most honest answer to this is no father at home and no discipline at home.

Not that they needed meds, they need to hear the fricking word "NO" before they are teenagers.

This girl had a step dad, how many years was there no dad or step dad around?

Crime went down not long after the advent of SSRIs. So did suicide rates for a period of time. Even in adolescents the rate went down during the 1990s as ssri use shot up. There is some other social contagion driving them up now.

BPD kids are almost always the result of abandonment as a child. From all I have been able to gather she grew up in a fairly loving home. I'm not sure where BPD would come from here.

her parents were not together, she killed her mother and tried to kill her step dad

so there definitely could be some abandonment issues fueling her mental disorders

I do because I know one. You named a few. There are thousands at those companies that let their kids use their products.

Any parent that lets their kid drink, Coca Cola is either uninformed or ambivalent to the health issues associated with HFCS.
