For those of you who like older trucks, there is a youtube channel I follow of a guy who is restoring 3 old trucks right now, a Peterbilt, Kenworth and a Peterbilt Cabover.
He's doing the Kenworth as a Smokey and the Bandit tribute truck.

I actually sold one of the trucks you posted. Sure do miss those days. Should have stayed selling them. Fun job.

Ordered a 389 in December that is due in August. Our driver can't wait.

Cabovers are cool looking, not so much fun driving. You are right on top of the wheels and engine. It’s nice in those tight spots though. I’ve driven volvo, freightliner and international. Reliability in that order. In my experience, Volvo’s ain’t sexy, but they run like a Swiss watch.

Volvo’s are one of the best out there. If you look at the fleet sales they are among the top. They have never had the curb appeal, but bc of their quality they were able to carve out a big niche in the market.

There used to be a great website and forum for fans of classic trucks called hankstruckpictures.com
It had thousands of photos and good discussions on trucks but the owner shut it down as people were "stealing" the photos without attribution and the site became a hassle as he got older.
Miss it...
On YT, there are a number of good videos and compilations. PHANTOM LANE and Daily Diesel Dose come to mind...

I had a short lived job as a trucker once. I think that old fiberglass cab on the Mac truck is what killed it for me.
It was so loud, a radio was useless. No A/C in the summer.
Peterbilt was the gold standard those days.

My father runs a small trucking operation, all Peterbilt. He has 5 at the moment. We used to have a mix with a couple of KW's thrown in but despite being owned by the same parent company, just about zero parts were interchangeable.
You don't see many cab overs any more because they are extremely dangerous in wrecks. Truckers used to call them suicide cabs because in wrecks the cab would break it's rear mounts, flip forward and throw the drivers through or into the front windshield.

If you're running lease roads Petes and Macks are way, way, way more durable than anything else.

GD Paccar engines as I run a business that works on them.
Software not cheap.
I do love a Peterbilt though.
