I'm 26. Own my own house.
What's most disturbing to me is I just realized I am as close to age 34 as I am far from age 18.
frick.

33 and have my own apartment. Got to my senior year at SLU and had that oh shite moment when I realized that I wasn't going to get a job with the degree I was going to get - so I bailed out and picked up a trade.

18-23 are normal because most are still in college. Any stats about 24-34 year old basement dwellers?
It's going to hurt like hell but I was the one that suggested my son stay in an apartment while attending college.
He will be paying for it himself. I think this will do him good.

Only way I let a child stay with me until 22 + would be if he's contributing to household chores considerably, is very respectful and very appreciative, and pays his own bills.
With no exceptions. These parents are definitely not helping these kids by letting them mooch.

I graduated at 22 and lived at my parents for maybe 2 months right when I finish. I had to get the frick out

The only $ I saved was rent/groceries/utility bills. Still paid for everything else.

I wish that was the case for me. My first year of college I was diagnosed with chron's disease so my spring semester was a wash then my second year I was put in the hospital so my spring semester that year was a wash. I also switched my major twice so I'm graduating this spring.

Everything else = beer and weed?

I'm assuming this is a thread that th03 is going to avoid.

Same, I lasted 3 months. Graduated in May and left in August.
The age group for this study is weird though, because I'd bet a large majority of the 18-23 or 24 year olds still technically live at home because they are in college. Not everyone graduates when they are 22. Even then the four years from 18-22 pretty much make up a fourth of the number of years in the study.

moved out when i was 19 (back in 1994) and never looked back. Though it extended my college career because i went to 8-10 hrs a semester and worked, but i had my freedom
