You misspelled “under”

Being pardoned for Jan. 6 doesn't mean anything here.

Correct.

"News Media" isn't just the Big 4 networks anymore. And honestly, I don't think many here watch CNN, MSN, FOX or CBS to even know what they're ranting about. Right? News today is anyone with a "platform". But you know this.

I get all this but I don't know your point other than just a general distaste for how media at large is driven by things other than raw information (ie, clickbait, team politics, etc.). Which of course most people agree with.

But I did hear something today talking about how the concept of purely objective media as an aspiration is relatively new and doesn't have a ton of historical precedent. Hence, you can go back to prior eras of American history (and European history) and there were newspapers sensationalizing stuff and engaging in petty squabbles akin to what we're doing now. Newspapers directly tied to movements and parties. Which I think is something to think about - basically we're pining for something that never existed.

I do think the "place" that news-style media has in our lives is probably higher than ever though, so that's key.

We're pointing out the hypocrisy of an organization (NPR) which found preventable murders, assaults and rapes for the sake of misguided equity unnewsworthy

How many stories has NPR done on the thousands of illegal aliens who’ve been convicted of everything from child sexual abuse, rape, murder, etc?

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that number is zero. And if they do report any such stories, unlike this guy who they pointed out is a pardoned Jan. 6er, there will be zero mentions of them being an illegal alien.

Someone do an analysis on people who are retroactively slamming the pardon because of this, to people who don't think Pretti's violent behavior a week before his justified death had any bearing on how the subsequent situation unfolded.

I bet it's close to a circle.

This might be news to you, but unlawful presence in the country is a civil violation, not a crime. Once they get caught actually committing crimes (or illegally crossing the border), deport the frick outta them.

The incident happened in 2024, Einstein.

So it's Brandon's fault he was on the street.

So Trump pardoned him after he molested children?

quote:

Johnson also attempted to keep one victim quiet by claiming he would receive $10 million from the Trump administration as restitution for former Jan. 6 defendants and would share the money with the victim in his will, according to the police report.

Being pardoned from a bogus charge has nothing to do with the other

The good news is that the perp is hopefully facing the death penalty being in Florida

so if ICE comes upon someone who is "unlawfully" in the US they should deport them or release them until they commit a crime?
