This is a prime example of LSU wasting money. Why would they redo half the building 7 years ago just to tear it down?

And this is an example of someone who doesn’t know his arse from a hole in the ground.

They had to remove asbestos and update to ADA standards to continue to use while the other student housing was being built.

Ah hell, lived there my freshman year. I was there when the world trade center attack happened. I can remember it like it was yesterday. Was living there when I met my wife also. Fire alarms in the middle of the night was a constant thing. Loved my time at Kirby though. Met some lifelong friends in that place during that year. Used to sit in our room when red lazer pointers became a thing and shine it on people in the parking lot.

I think it was 403B but may be off a number.

McVoy wasn’t quite the zoo that Kirby was.

oh no doubt. McVoy was like a library, most of the time.

Except when some one would say, take the fire extinguisher, lock the handle open, and drop it down the stairwell.

one other surrender to political correctness...dorms are no longer named after people...

if one cares to research, Kirby Smith was supposed to have another dorm built to the same design nearby named for a Confederate General...can't recall the name right off hand but he was one of the more obscure ones...

A guy I knew, big Lou, stole a stop sign and somehow was able to keep it in his Kirby smith dorm room. This was 2000/2001

Oh man. RIP to a true LSU staple. But it’s for the better.. I love the direction they’re going with the new campus housing.

Lived in Kirby for about 3 days in the fall of 2000. I moved in, and had some weird indian roommate who was obsessed with Sarah Michelle Geller.

A guy from my high school who was a year older ran into me on campus that week before classes started. Hew as living in the Highland Hall basement, and his roommate had withdrawn. We got the transfer paperwork put in that day, and I ended up rooming with him.

Are your initials SB?

ETA. Never mind you are talking about a different shitty dorm than the shitty dorm I was thinking about.

Fall 1987 - Spring 1988. 9th floor, checking in.

Guy across the hall lived in a small town about an hour away, and his family owned a liquor store. He would take orders from everyone before going home for the weekend, selling to us at a significant discount.

'95-97, 7th floor.

I remember the culcha floor (5th) would have parties where they would unscrew the light bulbs in the hall and replace with black lights. They'd have someone continuously pushing the elevator button so it would always stop on the 5th. Then they'd pull people off to join the party.

Also remember this dude bought a keg once but no one liked him or would drink with him so he kept it in his shower and drank warm beer for like a week.

Never thought I'd miss that place. They should throw a KS alumni (survivors) party before it comes down.

Haven’t they wanted to tear this thing down for a long time? It’ll never be removed in time
