We had a girl who became offended by something a co-worker said, both were new and young. So she goes to HR to file a complaint. Something like this would have normally been very minor, but she unknowingly hit the lotto. The company had just started negotiations with a much larger company to be bought and the principals didn't want anything to screw that up. So she was told to work from home, if that was a safe place, and we'd forward her assignments. She basically drew a check for nothing for about 18 months, until the deal was done and the new company started wondering who is this person and what does she do?

I work for one of the richest companies in the world. It amazes me how stupid one can be and still go high up the company ladder. Getting paid huge $$$ and I'm literally shocked he knows how to tie his own shoes.
Maybe it's like this in a lot of places but it seems once they've reached that level they will not fire them. They'll move them around, always to some job with no real importance, yet still keep paying the same big $$$. Blows my mind

Sometimes I wonder what I am even doing. I've been at my job so long it doesn't really take too much time to do my actual job. I would say I spend 3-4 hours a day actually working.

Yes. He's called the Boss.

When you're there long enough you'll have the proper clearance to know what that person does.

Do they count as co-workers if they all work for you?

I know what most people in my building do because they are very up front about only doing that function and nothing else.

That coworker is my boss.
I give it to him, he tries his best to make his position important but I’m confident if they were to eliminate his position that the company wouldn’t miss a beat

Yes, me. I don't do shite at work.

I am a SPED Teacher and a Behavioral Specialist so I am that guy you are asking about. To be honest, I really do not k now what I am doing half the time. I sometimes think I teach, sometimes I think I am babysitting, and there are others that I feel like I am just here getting paid to watch cartoons, football, live sports, or eat.

We hired a guy back in 2014 who did absolutely nothing all day. Paid handsomely for it also. He legit told me that he had nothing to do and asked if I could pass of some of my tasks so he'd look busy. I think his dad knew our boss and maybe it was a favor type thing because his "position" didn't exist until he showed up.
That lasted about four years until the boss took another job and the new boss hired a director. The first thing that new director did was fire him. He had just bought a new car too.
Ironically, that director only lasted 8 months because no one liked his smug arse.

Well I'm the boss of my office so I know what everyone is supposed to be doing. Whether they are actually doing it or not--sometimes I wonder.

When Hancock took over Whitney Bank, there were a lot of Whitney people with high paying jobs and impressive titles that no one knew what they actually did for the company.
When it was apparent that Hancock wasn't going to let these people just collect a paycheck and occupy an office, they tried to justify their jobs by going out the branches and bugging the staff. It was borderline harassment sometimes.
