I was never super big into rap. Or country. Usually gravitated towards rock/alternative.
I liked rap, rock/alternative and some country... Some R&B, etc. Good music is good music, but I will say the thing that I do not like about today's music is the lack of rock (rock that is closer to heavy metal, but not too heavy).

Some of the people I'm friends with on Facebook who are 40+ are saying they'd rather Gladys Knight then what they saw
Even better, how about Gladys Knight instead of what we saw?

A lot of pop music is fun and catchy which is why it’s popular. That being said I think a lot of people will agree a lot of pop music like Maroon 5 isn’t great or memorable by any means. It’s something you like listening to for a few months and then forget about it.

There is plenty of rock today that fits this. Listen to Octane on Sirius.

I dont think it is that folks hate Maroon 5 so much, but rather folks hate Pop music.

The problem is what is popular is not always good and what is good is not always popular.
Bands like the Stones and Who played massive venues in an age when folks were fully engaged. What group can fill the kind of venue with no distractions like cell phones today.
In addition, some big research recently spoke of music getting dumbed down to fit specific patterns that make sales easier as listeners are already programmed to "like" the music.

There is actually a lot of excellent music being made today, but most of it is underground. Music that is popular and sells these days mostly sucks balls. That includes c-rap, hip-hop, and bro country/new country.
You have to listen to indie stations like KLSU or WWOZ, and even then they play a lot of crap.

I remember when I was young and gulped down whatever Madison Avenue told me was "in".
No, actually I was never like that.

Reviews are in and they aren't good.
"If the limbo low charisma and stripped down Levine wanted “to move on” and “speak through the music” Maroon 5’s pyrotechnically enhanced and Chinese lanterns offering was a distinctly muted affair at its very best and solidly one of the worst Super Bowl halftime shows ever."

I didn’t watch the show, but I’m sure Travis Scott and Big Boi was a synthesizer masterpiece.

You think Maroon 5 is young people music? They were big in like 2002.
They sucked back then, too, just for the record.
Adam Levine's voice is annoying AF.

Bro I'm 30 and it was terrible.
Adam couldn't sing for shite. He was off key and it was comical watching him trying to dance with Scott and big boi.
It was just bland too. Katy Perry and Bruno Mars were 2 excellent and memorable in recent years. This was just trash.

As for the rap shite, that’s not even music. It’s nothing but pure dogshit that requires absolutely zero musical talent to make.
Spoken as someone with clearly no musical talent.

Your opinion is misinformed but you treat it as fact.

For you poor, dumb youths who grew up with dogshit rap that passes for music, this is what real musical genius Iooks like.
Because HEAVEN FORBID someone's tastes being different than yours.

Prince was incredible and I'm not a big rap guy, but you sound like an idiot here.
