Did she land on her feet? Sure did have the opportunity to.

It is a terrible thing to happen but people don't follow the rules. I was there in May and the number of people (especially Chinese) that just run up to the wildlife is astounding.

She actually looks like she lands on her feet and then falls. But I am definitely going to hell for laughing at this... Only because she's okay!

These are the same kinds of people who go to the Grand Canyon and somehow manage to fall in.

If we're being honest, she came away from that relatively unscathed. The bison flipping her in the air was probably the best thing to happen for her. It could have absolutely buried her right there.

young child on to get closer to a bear cub for a picture in the Smokies.

They just saw a good opportunity to get a picture that would get them a bunch of likes on social media.

This isn't true at all. If so, then she is dumb and has been raised by idiots.

When I was in Yellowstone last fall there were bison all over the roads in the Lamar Valley and they walked on both sides of our car, I could have stuck my hand out the window and touched them. My 3 and 5 year olds were very scared.

If you get within 50 yards of a bison in the wild at any age you have to be just stupid.

I doubt these people were on social media at that point. It was probably around 2002.

If I am near any animal that is 2000 lbs, I’m keeping my guard up at all times.

NO, it's not "good". The child could have easily been killed.

Yes- the parents should have known better- it's a wild animal. But it's not the child's fault.

Here we go...

“My two kids are this way, so any of the other eleventy million kids that aren’t are stupid”

I have a daughter that is like your two...scared of everything that moves. Her younger sister? Completely fearless. She might have tried to ride the bison like a pony.

Same parents...I guess we raised one of them to be stupid just ‘cause.

If you go to Yellowstone and do not inform your young kids that bears, bison, wolves, moose, and elk are dangerous then YOU are dumb and then by no fault of their own, the kids are too

Most tourists have no concept of wildlife. Absolutely no awareness.

No joke. I was up there just a couple of weeks ago. People stopping traffic, getting out to take pictures of a bear cub. Within 25 ft at most. If there's a cub around, there's probably a mama bear around too.

Everything you get when you enter the park has a section about how to not frick with the wild animals.

Am I the only one that sees 2 dudes as the “parents?” If so that explains everything.

IDGAF....wish harm on the parents all you want. Saying it's good that a 9 year old was hurt is borderline psychotic.

People are dumb. It’s a 2000 lb animal. Don’t frick with it. People also like to walk around near the hotpots and geysers, which is similarly stupid.

I agree with that, I didn't mean it as "good I'm glad the girl was injured"

"good" may have been the wrong choice but I hate idiots who think wild animals are the same as their precious 17 pound lap dog

Those folks are geniuses compared to the folks who step off the boardwalks so they can soak in the hot (boiling hot) springs southwest of the Lamar Valley.

I don't have to be the fastest person just faster than you. Looks like the little girl was the slowest of the 3.

On that note, no way in hell I let my son get that close to a wild animal of that size.
