They've always been my dream bike.
Did any of you baws ever own one of these bad boys back in the day? Obviously I prefer the liquid cooled 85-86, but I'd take an air cooled one from 83-84.
I've always wanted to take a paddled one to Glamis or somewhere similar

I have an 83 with a 360 mugen kit, jemco pipe.
It's full restomod and I haven't ridden it in probably 7 years,.
I have a fleet of little 70s. Build one every few years.
Currently have four full sets of parts to redo four.... But can't find any decent frames. And the Canada tariffs killed my source for new ones. Have to have one finished in the next 18 months for my little boy

I was around back when these were banned from sales. Baton Rouge was the port where these were imported. They had hundreds of them on barges brand new. They took them down by the mouth of the MS and used a bulldozer on the barge to push them off the edge to form an artificial reef.
A bunch of them were donated to LSP as well. I had one at the Walker Range I used to ride around. LSP made us sit through a 4 hour safety corse to use them.

I've owned about 10 of them.

Never heard the barge story.
I had the X’s. A bunch of 200X’s over the years and a pristine 86’ 350X I had for 10-15 years that I should have never sold. That was a fun trike. Would like to get an 85 or 86 R one day. Just a lot of money today for a vintage toy.

It was a right of passage as a kid to have a burn mark on the leg from those things

I don’t have a need for one in my life right now, but I really want a three wheeler one day.
I maintain that they were much safer than a four wheeler because they weighed much less and when you flipped one and it landed on you, it wouldn’t kill you. It would just bounce off and you would get up dust yourself off get back on and keep riding.
Also, they were much more maneuverable because you could turn them on a dime simply by throwing your weight around.
They were a hell of a lot more maneuverable and fun to ride.
Unfortunately, idiots didn’t know what they were doing and Got on them and got hurt. Also, there was a hell of a lot more margin on a higher priced vehicle so oh well goodbye three three wheelers.
So now when you flip one and it lands on you you’re dead or at best seriously and likely permanently injured.
That’s what we call progress.

Rode 110’s, 185S’s and 200x’s but never owned one. I had a 1989 250R quad that had the aluminum swingarm, had an FMF torque pipe on it and that thing was super fast out the hole! In an 1/8 mile no Banshee could keep up with it! Wish I still had it.

Buddy had the 250R, I had the 350x. Many a day spent on the homemade track and cutting figure 8s.
We both sold them for us each to get a boat.
I still have the boat but miss that 350x

Had an 86 Yamaha 225DR. It was faster than any other 4 stroke 3 wheeler stock. Miss it dearly!

Some of those made their way to south arkansas and east Texas. My dad ended up with one when I was about 13.

My cousin had one and a 350x (both were stolen) but that 250r would hurt ya quick if ya didn’t know how to ride it

I had a 110, my cousin wrecked it and bent the front fork and never told me.
A few years later I ended up sinking his Yamaha 80 4 wheeler while trying to hydroplane a water hole at full speed.
