Yang isn't wrong on this. Like him or not, he understands the technological future better than any of the other politicians out there.

Now we're upset when people and organizations give to charities of their choice? I thought that was the whole republican model? Take away government benefits and let charities/voluntary donations handle that stuff

Yep it’ll fix everything. Property values will go down even more. Crime will go up along with (naturally) drug use.

As long as this stops them from receiving other govt benefits, and it's privately funded, I don't care.

There are your reparations.

Ok

What are the metrics to see if the program is working?

So the programs is for 125 to get $9000 over 18 months. Maybe these people need $5000 NOW. Who are these people to say how spread out a free payment should be? Sounds like a serious control move to me.

It's what charity is for, although it should be illegal for them to determine the recipients based on race.

So far, private donors have contributed $2.5 million to the Fund for Guaranteed Income, a charity headed by Nika Soon-Shiong, daughter of Los Angeles Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong.

I have no problems with people spending their money how they want.

Not sure why you care?

I agree with this. Not sure how we actually pull off UBI though.

Hopefully the natural population control takes care of some of the problems.

UBI will work when automation eliminates the need for most labor. We are still a ways off.

Um, yes?

How and when do we go about implementing is the question.

Just print money. Probably get it through the IRS like the stimulus. Then expect massive inflation.

Brown said she had been aware of the concept of universal guaranteed income for years, but got to see it in action in February 2019 when Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs launched the Stockton Economic Empowerment Demonstration, which gave 125 residents $500 a month for 18 months.

Well, how did it go? Didn’t the one in Sweden get shut down due to abject failure?

Sounds like the funds are all from private donors, so what a fool wishes to do with his/her personal money is none of my concern.

Agreed.

His plan was very well thought out and he was hands down the best candidate this year. What is going to happen is a lot of people are going to fight tooth and nail against change, and then we will get some terrible formation of UBI, potentially not Universal, not funded in a way where it benefits the largest number of people, etc.
