This should fix everything.

Mayor Aja Brown

quote:

This is a great opportunity to address inequalities for Black and Brown people and also additional opportunities for upward mobility," Compton Mayor Aja Brown says. (Jason Armond / Los Angeles Times)

quote:

Brown said she had been aware of the concept of universal guaranteed income for years, but got to see it in action in February 2019 when Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs launched the Stockton Economic Empowerment Demonstration, which gave 125 residents $500 a month for 18 months. In June 2020, Brown joined Tubbs as a founding member of the Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, a consortium of mayors working to launch more pilot programs in their cities. In July, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey donated $3 million for the initiative.

As long as it remains a voluntary donation setup I really don't care.

I think Compton is actually a primarily Hispanic neighborhood now. It’s about 65% Hispanic, 30% black, and then I think less than 1% white

Do we not already give the same people guaranteed income in the form of food stamps, medicaid, housing, etc? Sure we can give people guaranteed income if we cut every other program.

The Federal Government shall not bail out California when they go belly-up. This is what Nancy is trying to accomplish via her alleged COVID stimulus package.

Sounds like the funds are all from private donors, so what a fool wishes to do with his/her personal money is none of my concern.

The program will aim to include a representative sample of the 68% of Latino and 30% of Black residents in Compton, as well as those often excluded from federal and state aid programs, including undocumented immigrants and formerly incarcerated residents.

Wow...

Shreveport's fearless leader is one of the mayors involved in this movement.
