I gonna go out on a limb here and say those people’s responses will be, “i didn’t know i was receiving any money for Medicaid.”

You know it’s bad when everyone of us in here actually knows someone who is part of the 80%.

True. I am assuming you have a trust with the nursing home option? I am going through the same thing with my father. However you have to pay an iou to the trust from the IRA to show your funds aren't sufficient. then taxes hit hard when you cash out the IRA Which one is the less of two evils I guess

It takes a true sack of shite to steal from Medicaid while making 300k

Why?

The individual is paying 6 figure tax bills. He's only recouping some stolen funds at worst.

So, what is the answer if an older person is afraid they will go into a nursing home in say, 10years, and doesn't want all their assets to be "taken" by the nursing home? Sign over their assets to their children 5 years prior?

From a statistical analysis standpoint, making such broad claims on a "random" 100-person sample size is quite irresponsible

Who deserves the benefits more, people who have never paid anything into the system because they are too lazy to work, or people who have worked hard and paid into the system all of their lives? I have a different thought on these types of programs. If they are going to offer free health care to one person they should offer it to everybody. Its the people who make money who are paying for it so why shouldn't they get to benefit off of it also? Same with food stamps, if one person gets free food then everybody who wants it should. Otherwise we are punishing success by taking their money and rewarding failure by giving them other peoples money.

Million folk on Medicaid and he looks into 100.

That’s a poll not an audit.

I hate fraudsters a lot, but I hate these legislative audit reports.
This reminds me when they come out with the annual report that LSU has over 1 million dollars of technology. When the truth is that they took 8 year old computers apart for parts.
It’s such a high overview drawing such sweeping conclusions I can’t stand them.

See dementia being brought up a lot

Want Medicaid reform? Pass legislation legalizing assisted suicide in cases of dementia and terminal cancer with less than 10% survival rate.

I think many people would be quick to set up living will with such options available to them.

Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's is a living nightmare. I've seen it up close.

No. No it isn't. This is the whole point of statistical inference. Why does this point keep getting regurgitated?

because I have serious doubts about the validity of the random samples. I think it was targeted sampling

If you read the report, you'll see that there were two samples. One was targeted based on average highest wages and the other was random. The $85 million figure was the high end projected from the random sample.

Last year I went through the market place trying to see if I could get a better deal for my family. The website had me enter pertinent info for each family member.

I decided that the plans weren’t any better than what I already had and decided not to enroll with a new plan.

Nevertheless, a week later my kids got letters in the mail with their new CHIP insurance cards. I wrote a letter to the state to end the coverage stating that I never enrolled them in the first place.
