This report was done by the Performance division which specializes in program evaluation. These aren't accountants.
Still state employees. Therefore I assume low quality work.

I guess we have to scrap the whole public university system then. Why waste all that money?

People are acting like this is a valid sample, but it nowhere says he selected them randomly. Or that he didn’t pick another hundred if the first group didn’t pan out like he hoped.
I thought this at first, but it's not like this is some yahoo off the street. It's an auditor, whom I would assume has their CPA.

I have no problem with doing that.
Same here. That is why I did it 5 years ago.

If they are going to offer free health care to one person they should offer it to everybody. Its the people who make money who are paying for it so why shouldn't they get to benefit off of it also? Same with food stamps, if one person gets free food then everybody who wants it should. Otherwise we are punishing success by taking their money and rewarding failure by giving them other peoples money.
Welcome to socialism.

Do you have any idea how much nursing homes charge?
There are/were a rather large number of nursing home owners in the Louisiana legislature. Don't look for anything to change.

Lol, auditors jobs is to find issues not report the truth. He looks amazing to people not by saying yeah everything checked out but by saying they have 58 violations. Weather or not those violations are correct or just a missing sheet of paperwork.
My favorite story about them is they cited lumcon for losing a whole boat. What they failed to cite was it was lost during Katrina when it sunk.

La. is the ONLY state that has a 25% "Reasonable Compatibility Standard for Income" verification for medicaid enrollment. Other states have 10% or 0%. Medicaid.gov (pdf)
It is my understanding that this is basically a 25% fraud allowance which is allowed by the feds. The electronic income verification process is not allowed to check individual income tax records. The bill to allow that was killed by Senator Morrell because it placed an unfair burden on the poor people.
The new computer system that is being flaunted in the news, and will be brought up again in the upcoming gov. election, won't help detect this income verification fraud.
So I expect rampant medicaid fraud to continue.

These owners political contributions dwarf all other contributions by a very large amount.
