Eighth offense? Just shoot this cocksucker and be done with it. He isn't going to stop.

You may not agree with their choices but you have to admire their dedication.

34 years old! He looks 40 easy. Proof that hard lives take a toll on how you age.

There was an alumnus of my fraternity that got five. Think he had to spend six months in Jail for the last one. Started studying for law school while he was incarcerated.

The crazy thing was all he had to do was call someone. Every pledge class was told about his situation. He had the phone numbers of all of them, and dozens of brothers would have gladly driven him.

I would like to know what happened to each case. Was he in diversion programs, were charged dropped, are cases still pending? And... is he out on bail for this 8th offense?? If he was released, what was his bond and what judge set the amount?

The article mentions two people being arrested, one was 34 and the other 55. That picture has to be of the 55 year old, right?

While I think .08 is a bullshite level and all about revenue generation rather than public safety, there no justification for anyone having 8 DWI’s. And the article says one of the guys was THREE times the legal limit?? That’s as dangerous as firing a handgun into the air at midnight in the French Quarter. He should be permanently taken off the road.

There are a lot of things that come into play. First, every ten years the previous DWI’s are ‘cleansed’ from the record. The law has recently changed to start the 10 year clock at the end of the probation from the previous DWI. Also, it used to be easy to plea down to a lower offense DWI amd avoid trial. They don’t allow that much anymore though. A lot of it has to do with representation. A good lawyer used to be able to get most of the jail time served as home incarceration. Again, the law has tightened that up a bit recently. DWI is not an aggravated offense which means that an offender serves about 4 months for each year he’s sentenced, unless he loses ‘good time’ for disciplinary reasons while incarcerated. There are a few ways to slip through the cracks but those mentioned above are usually the case in a lot of multiple offenders.

In reality, after 8 times caught, likely hundreds of times not being caught. They are probably a pretty decent driver while intoxicated at this point.

True. I don't think I looked any older in my one (exonerated). I just looked insane.
