Tell your bf that this weekend is a no go.
Doesn't have to be a no go, but it's going to be a little shittier than planned.

Wouldnt surprise me. Houston has the most dickhead controllers I’ve ever come across.
The guys at Hobby killed a woman a year or so ago. Kept making her go back around trying to fit her slower smaller plane in between commercial. Guess she ran out of gas or ran out of experience being recreational. Fell out of the sky like a dead bird in a flat spin.

They used to fly a passenger charter from Houston to Angola,
I took this flight many times. The entire plane was business class except for a few rows in the rear.

If there were any voids, empty spots without a can, cargo shift would cause something like this. Pure speculation of course. Now that they have the CVR and FDR, we will know soon.

don’t know what RJ means, but if it’s passenger airline pilots you would be wrong.
Nah.... I left a major passenger carrier for a cargo company.

I think they've only found the CVR so far.

Cargo shifts tend to happen on takeoffs or when the Capt comes in hot and has to slam the brakes on the landing. From the video that I have seen the aircraft is in a nose dive which would mean that if it was a cargo issue then something catastrophic would have had to happen.
Check out video of National Airlines flight 102 that crashed in Afghanistan.

They happen quite a bit actually. Depending on the load plan, if voids were up front and the descent was steep, you could get an unrecoverable nose down situation. You are right that most catastrophic ones are on takeoff though.

Friend of mine at Atlas(767 capt) put the chance of a load shift around zero. He said they fill the voids with empty cans. He also said amazon flight almost always bulk out before they weight out.
ETA: I’m probably not explaining this well, but amazon flights usually aren’t heavy loads per my buddy.

The load shift on NA102 didn’t bring it down. The subsequent damage to the hydraulics from the load shift left the plane uncontrollable.

So then what does he think happened?

He’s withholding speculation.
ETA: There is a *rumor* of structural failure floating around

Can’t imagine how bad it was for the occupants . It’s amazing how safe air travel is but it still sucks whe this happens

What if he knew it was going down and took it there to minimize damage/civilian casualties?
There's lots of empty space around Anahuac.

Re-read your statement. If there was no load shift then.......

True.
Also how long would it take to make a hard left from there in a 767 and be over the gulf?
Bet that cockpit voice recorder will be a tough listen.

I know what I said. Yes, no load shift=no crash in that case. I was making the point that the load shift wasn’t the sole cause.

That’s like saying the car crash didn’t kill John Doe. It was his head injuries from the crash.

I think his point is that the change in CG wasn’t the reason the aircraft went down.

Yeah sort of. My first post on the NA102 crash was shitty wording. I was trying to convey that it wasn't the only reason for the crash.
