USGS estimates the magnitude 7.5 Venezuela earthquake today caused 10,000–100,000 fatalities.

USGS with quite the prediction of fatalities. Glad they were able to narrow down their projections for us.
As of Thursday morning, the reports I'm seeing are saying 164 killed.
I expect that number will go up as they dig through the rubble, but there is a huge gap between 164 and 10K.

I just finished rewatching the “How the Earth Was Made” series so that’s on me, guys. My bad.
That is a good series.

More terrifying when you are caught outside and see the ground roll around you.
We've had those in Oklahoma.
There are two different types that I've experienced.
The type that rolls. You can hear it coming before you feel it, and you know when it passes by you.
The other type feels like someone thumped the underside of your house with a jackhammer.

My uncle lives in north Venezuela. I reached out to him but haven’t heard back yet. Super unusual. It’s about as far from the epicenter as Caracas.

The news stated that these numbers do not include what is being referred to as the disaster zone.

Like living at Edward’s. Sonic booms all day. You get used to the noise.

My two son’s are currently in Tokyo visiting and he texted me over an hour ago to tell me they felt an earthquake.

Many earhtquake disasters start low and go up drastically. That number means nothing right now in the total deaths.

After the earthquake in Venezuela, a family was searching for their baby among the rubble. The dad, in tears, called out to him at the top of his lungs AND THE BABY CRAWLED OUT.
This is a miracle

That’s because you are comparing the “at least” number to the “up to” number. And the at least number is obviously going to be quite low at this stage.

Friday morning report: 235 confirmed dead. 4300 injured in hospitals.
They did not provide a number for "missing", but my guess is that it is quite large.

Over 900 dead now. Many more to be found I'm sure.
