The teams we pulled for didn’t try to make a political statement every time they hit the field or court. They just played the game.

Too many to mention.

One of the greatest things is that we had a superb, secluded duck hunting lease.

No problem to kill 40 or 50 big ducks by my self at 13. - my mid twenties. Also catching bass in my ponds. This was before high powered mud boats came into existence. They ruined the marsh and ponds.

Frog hunting, sac a lait. It was heaven.

Yeah smoking while pregnant. Remember doctors used to not think anything was wrong with that.

For me, it is the memory of my pregnant mom putting an ashtray on her belly, while smoking, so I could see my sister kicking it. I guess another was being gone from home from daylight to dark and my parents having no real idea of exactly where I was all day.

When I was around 10, my Dad bought me a watch and told me I had to be home for 5:30. It was one of those that you pull out the winder to set the time so when that happens the watch Dosent tell time. It somehow poped out one summer day and when I seen it was getting dark (bout 7:30) I shite. He whipped my arse.

When I look back at my childhood in the 80’s, I can’t think of one friend’s mom who worked in my neighborhood. They were all stay at home moms. Conversely, I think every friend I have now has a wife that works, including mine.

The more I recall my childhood the more I realize how fricked up it was. I never want to be unilaterally controlled again.

Riding around in an F100 with no AC or radio. Riding in the bed of that truck.

Getting spanked in school for talking in class.

I lived in Lake Vista, 100 yrds. away from Lake Pontchartrain. From sun-up to sun-down, me and my brother fishing, crabbing and swimming on the lake..jumping off of the bridge over Orleans canal..gettin' in trouble all day. Goin' home only for lunch..bringing tons of crabs home for Mom to cook. There was no better time in my life.

Saturday cartoons rocked, getting on my bike riding to my friends house and then hitting the trails we had all throw out the woods.

Building forts, climbing trees, and building tree houses. Not being scared of snakes or any other animals in the woods.

Fishing in neighbors ponds, folks asking us if we wanted something to drink or eat, playing in the creeks, and only coming home when it got dark or bleeding enough for some monkey blood and bandage.

Blowing on video game cartridges seemed to fix some problems.

Nobody I knew had a good looking mom. Thinner than now but not good looking.

Every other person wasn’t morbidly obese. Today, lots of young people struggle to make it up three flights of stairs.

Only one broken home in the entire neighborhood. Unlocked back door for milk delivery. Epic Kick the Can games. Box Hockey at BREC summer program. Barefoot. Tree houses. Trick or treat. Early morning swim team practice. Saturday mass anticipating Sunday. Monday morning march. Thanks,
