You still have to pay the collision deductible.

Even if you had uninsured property damage and no collision, you still have a deductible.

So if your car is registered in Bossier, but it's on blocks in your garage, you're still forced to carry insurance on it?

I don't think anyone said this

That is what uninsured coverage is for.

Wrong, uninsured motorist is for bodily injury not property damage.
First offense, fine and proof of coverage paid infull for one year.Second offense, fine and auto gets impounded and sold with proceeds going to an uninsured motorist fund.
Any other offenses, they get to dress in pank and pickup trash, sleep in a tent and eat baloney for two years.

Except when you trade in your license/registration/insurance in another state and Louisiana DMV manages to neglect that fact.

Then when the insurance lapses Louisiana issues you a ticket for a car you dont own and insurance you cant renew

Lol. You think La car insurance is only $400 annually? That's closer to a monthly premium for 2 average cars for a youngish married couple

I can assure everyone that the Sheriff or COP in Bossier is not doing this out of some sort of altruistic intent or to force people to buy the over priced car insurance in Louisiana that trial lawyers have driven up due to the 50 K cap on non jury trials or to save people money.

These guys got a new toy that gave them a huge advantage in a revenue producing arena that is writing tickets....in the future they will be able to use these scanners in conjunction with speed measuring devices and the officer won't even have to leave the donut shop. Clock it and ticket it and put a stamp on it.

All you baws with white pick up trucks with steel nuts hanging better watch out.

People in LA really don't know how bad they getting dicked for auto coverage.

My 1st cousin in South Carolina got a brand new Mustang GT when he turned 16. His full coverage premium was like 20bucks more than my legal liability coverage on my better when I was married at 24.

La is 1st or 2nd highest auto rates in the nation

They are essentially tracking the targets every move without cause, warrant, or alleged crime. The fruits of that search to me are secondary.

I hate to break it to you, but some some parishes participate in federal programs where all they do is drive around reading plates on the roads to gather information about you. It varies dept to dept on how often, but they build a database of your driving habits because the road system is, after all, public. Feds love tracking you.

I know, I just wish other people did. There are whole companies that compile this data and sell it to various law enforcement agencies.

Right, and IIRC when this was challenged in court the govt agencies argued (successfully) that its no different than posting an officer at a certain place and manually looking up license plates.

Which is ridiculous because no officers that I know of can see and scan 100+ license plates at one hundred plus yards away in the dark, while noting their locations, scanning faces of people in the car, and analyzing it for future mining.

Its a massive invasion of privacy.

This has happened to more than one person I know btw. Louisiana govt as a rule is completely inept at everything except spending money and giving tickets.

If this is the case on one of the 7,050 tickets issued in Bossier Parish, I think I'd pay the ticket.

The car is insured, not the driver. If someone else causes a wreck while driving your car then *your* insurance pays.

That is why Quanesha got the ticket.

Insurance companies screwing LA by constantly saying we are highest uninsured. LA not even in top 10. High rates due to judicial system.

No one pulled over on Live PD has insurance, drivers license, or any ID. Most walk

My BIL got hit by an uninsured driver and they were at fault. He still tried to sue my BIL’s insurance.
