Trump needs to remove weed from the controlled substances scheduling in 2020
He should’ve already done it. Every president before him should’ve done it.
It’s mind boggling that GOP won’t budge on it’s pot stance. Dropping it’s prohibition position would be such a freedom-supporting, common sense act that would really appeal to moderates, libertarians, and young people. But no, GOP will sit back and act like old out of touch curmudgeons and let the liberals own this issue.

It’s a wonderful example of why everyone who says legalize it and strictly regulate it is doomed to fail due to government red tape.
frick off....should be legal cross the U.S.

But legalization and regulation is good not only for the seller, but for the consumer as well. To think otherwise is idiotic.
Legalization is good for the seller and consumer. Regulation is good for the gov’t and is bad for both the seller and consumer.
Of all the reasons to legalize, creating additional tax revenues and bureaucracies are not among them.

Bernie Sanders has announced that within the first 100 days of his administration, he will issue an executive order instructing the attorney general to deschedule marijuana as a controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act.

Murder Mountain on Netflix covers some of the troubles of the industry pretty well.

If a state legalizes weed (which seems sensible), they should empty the jails and prisons of everyone in there on weed convictions immediately.

Not directed at you specifically , but i dont understand the hard-on so many people have for ‘states rights.’
Just make it legal nationally .

That is a dogmatic view that is patently incorrect, especially for weed. Like any drug, an unregulated market could and likely would be a nightmare for consumers. The purity of all cannabis and dosage particularly edibles should absolutely be regulated.

I watched it too. One of the issues is just because it's legal in the state each city voted on whether to allow shops most voted against them.

When weed is legalized nationwide large corporations will assume majority control same as alcohol and cigarettes. Ever increasing government controls will drive small growers out of business for the most part.

They are not allowed to use fdic insured banks, can't claim expenses on their federal tax returns, and if literally anything crossed state lines to make the weed, interstate commerce clause kicks in. It's bullshite.

Except they will go too far and only gigantic corporations will be able to handle the red tape. Sarbanes Oxley on steroids.

People revert to “states rights” when it is things they don’t want
Ie weed or gay marriage

There are thriving dispenseries all over California, but as more and more businesses get sucked up by the corporate weed machine, dispenseries turn more to growing huge amounts in house vs purchasing from small scale farmers. The guys like the grower interviewed who happens to be a buddy of mine are risking a lot by going fully legit, but grow some of the best genetics available so they are able to work with producers like Flowkana ( the processor also featured in the show) who insist upon top quality. That being said, no amount of legal surplus will stop the siren song of the emerald triangle from enticing large scale black market and even cartel related growing.

Apparently it’s illegal to sell weed grown in CA outside of CA, so there is a 15,000,000 lb (I think) surplus of weed
This sounds like a congressional problem...

Illinois did. Mixed feelings about this. The majority of people who got in trouble are still shitheads. It's one thing if you got busted for a joint, but dealing or growing aren't small things.
Example. I have a card, like previous stated in this thread, and I belong to a few groups on social media. A guy was busted locally with a huge grow and the guy was a card holder. IL is very restricted, so restricted, everything is sealed and cant see the product/item at the dispensary and you can't grow (yet). His excuse was that he couldn't afford it, and he was "healing people". Weird how he could afford the materials before selling - if this were the case.
Anyways, the guy and his wife got busted with a basement full of plants and dealing. They both got charged, but somehow got to keep their cards. Which is weird, because to get the card, you have to do fingerprints and cant have any felonies, but since it's their "medicine" now, the state didn't take it away.
These two young parents think what they did was helping people and had their church help with 70k fine (mindblowing). They were both incarcerated at the same time and somehow still have their kids. The guy posts about how he still grows and calls people newbs.
These trash arse people are the reason why there is such a negative stigma when it comes to weed. I dont like people incarcerated for stupid things, but most people dont change. Sry, not sry.

It's part of an ideology popular among Republicans and Libertarians that subscribes to the thought that smaller government is better government.

Because weed is still illegal, federally.

Market forces should adjust production to be in equilibrium with demand. Plus, California has a long history of folks growing their own for their own consumption. Despite the potential size of the market, Colorado has done a better job with "Stoner" tourism to this point.
