People can't get enough of 100+ degree temps with 90% humidity and high violent crime rates.

You think there are “private” canals now.

Wait till a bunch of Brads and Karens from the Northeast start buying up property. You will have to run past the islands to fish for trout.

I feel like a lot of Louisiana is not even that aware of this culture and music. I only started hearing about Jordan Thibodeaux a year or two ago. Been a fan of Lost Bayou Ramblers a little longer.

I encourage everyone to check out the free festival in October Festival Acadiens in Lafayette for many of the best local bands around.

Because it’s twice as corrupt than others

Elsewhere is full of synthetic blandness, lack of connection and shallowness.

Trick to learn, having lived LONG time in both Nola / area and elsewhere, is to know how to navigate to the soul enrichment while avoiding the ineptitude, corruption and relationship crime.

Starts with mindset and expectations. Mine are laser focused on the organic soul building qualities of this beautiful place and NOT expecting those qualities that can tilt a soul towards raisin - overly manicured master planned communities full of people seeking to compete for the outwardly perfect life, centered around wealth and prestige, shallow and contrived while missing organic human joy of life by a mile.

You know as well as I do that crime is 90% of what holds the south back. Eliminate that and New Orleans would have San Diego prices. Newsflash: people like walkable cities

Know Jourdan well. He’s a good dude. He works hard trying to preserve our Cajun culture. Not many folks teach their kids to speak French anymore. His shows certainly don’t meet the expectation of what Cajun French music was when I was growing up but they are fun; much more energy. My wife’s cousin and another friend are both in his band. I’ve been working on learning more “Parisian French” lately as I grew up in Evangeline parish and my grandparent spoke only French and so I’ve been watching lots of French tv programs. I see Jourdan in just about all of them that have anything to do with Cajun country.

The Cajuns of Louisiana descend from proud Frenchmen who refused to live under British rule, so went to Louisiana.
And the creoles, the colonists that had to go to Louisiana and other states when their colonization days were over, in Guadeloupe and other places.

They are a unique nation without our nation. Those with this blood should be proud (I am not one).

More French than the French at this point. More Catholic, stronger beliefs on heritage and tradition.

The Cajun flag is really a French monarchy flag.

The French louisiana people should bring an Orleanist monarch to rule the land, democracy has not helped anybody around here. Just corruption.

I would be proud to fight for yall and raise my future kids under the French Catholic culture.

Now is your chance!

They make it out like all anyone does is go fishing all day and zydeco all night.

Who wouldn't want to live that lifestyle?

It's like a pharma commercial.

Found some travel vids from Provence that were in French and led me down some rabbit holes. I did see Jourdan on a program about Catholic religion in France as well as a local priest who went to school my my wife.
