This is all yall have. If the market is flat all the way through Q3 2026, R’s will get annihilated in the midterms. This is just a fact. I am not saying this as wishful thinking, I am saying this as a warning.

I missed this news from a couple weeks ago, not sure if this was posted:

Upholding English-language proficiency for commercial motor vehicle operators: (a) The Secretary of Transportation, acting through the Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), shall, within 60 days of the date of this order, rescind the guidance document titled, “English Language Proficiency Testing and Enforcement Policy MC-ECE-2016-006,” issued on June 15, 2016, and issue new guidance to FMCSA and enforcement personnel outlining revised inspection procedures necessary to ensure compliance with the requirements of 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2).

(b) In carrying out subsection (a) of this section, the Secretary of Transportation, through the Administrator of the FMCSA, shall take all necessary and appropriate actions, consistent with applicable law, to ensure that the out-of-service criteria are revised such that a violation of the English language proficiency requirement results in the driver being placed out-of-service, including by working with the relevant entities responsible for establishing the out-of-service criteria. Strengthening Commercial Driver’s License Security for Safer Commercial Motor Vehicle Operations. The Secretary of Transportation, through the Administrator of the FMCSA, shall: (a) review non-domiciled commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs) issued by relevant State agencies to identify any unusual patterns or numbers or other irregularities with respect to non-domiciled CDL issuance; and (b) evaluate and take appropriate actions to improve the effectiveness of current protocols for verifying the authenticity and validity of both domestic and international commercial driving credentials. Supporting America’s Truck Drivers. Within 60 days of the date of this order, the Secretary of Transportation shall identify and begin carrying out additional administrative, regulatory, or enforcement actions to improve the working conditions of America’s truck drivers.

Have a buddy from HS that drives OTR, I know he’s told me several times about what a plague the foreign drivers are. Good to see this happening:usa:

The RGV is unironically better than El Paso.

The RGV is the hottest place in the entire US, except maybe Phoenix. It’s miserable 80% of the year

Can you give me more info on this? I find it hard to believe that anyone/any entity can force an individual to contribute a certain amount to a 401k program

It’s written into the legislation of SECURE Act 2.0.

I believe you can opt out, but the #1 reason nobody saves in their 401k is simply because they’re too dumb to set it up, which this is designed to address.
I forget if it’s 2026 or 2027 but after thst, all newly established 401k plans are required to have both automatic enrollment AND automatic contribution increases of 1% every year up to like 10% or something.

So in the long run, dips in the market will be smoothed out more and more by enforced buying.

People can't get enough of 100+ degree temps with 90% humidity and high violent crime rates.

You know as well as I do that crime is 90% of what holds the south back. Eliminate that and New Orleans would have San Diego prices. Newsflash: people like walkable cities
JBE’s COVID tyranny may keep Dems out of the gov mansion for 20 years. I have never seen a bigger state level inability to read the room re: lockdowns
No kidding. There’s a few LSU student rental houses in my neighborhood. It’s been something watching the carousel of license plates change from >90% Texas to NY, NJ, Maine, etc over the past few years.
Unfortunately I am 300 miles away but I let them know (they never watch any news, and I am sure weather alerts are disabled on their phones).
Oh shite

I have people there. Thanks for the heads up
2%: bad luck/ poor health outcomes
98%: bad decisions.

Personally, I think this is why pensions need to make a comeback. If you give people a choice of how much to invest in their 401k, most won’t invest enough, and will spend it too aggressively at retirement.
Amazing it took this long for Europe to realize that importing throngs of illiterate people was bad for their global competitiveness.

What's the company?

Pointe Coupee Farmers Cooperative.

No pics as his name is prominently displayed.

But I have a question:

-It appears to be preferred shares in a private local company that’s still operating; how do I determine a value for this? Hire an appraiser? Financial attorney? Never encountered this before.

-Preferred dividends are paid first, how do I know they have been properly paid over the last 57 years? If they haven’t been, then what?

From all accounts, this was first inherited from one generation to the next in the 80’s and was just placed in a filing cabinet back then.
Didn’t Abe Lincoln want to send all the freed slaves back?
