Four children between the ages of 8 and 12 reportedly jumped over the fence surrounding the pool. BREC officials said the children had guns. Police said a group went into the water before lifeguards were on duty.
Some tasty quotes here from NBR community “leaders”
quote:
“We want to continue to work closely with BREC to provide those resources and services that Howell Park provides here for our community, which is a great hub, which is a beacon of light in the community,” District 7 Councilwoman Twahna P. Harris stated.

Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Foundation Chairman Clay Young hopes the incident won’t stop future improvements in the area. “We do have a handful of bad actors that could take this away from these kids, and we are seeing an appetite to cut funding right and left for investments in inner city communities,” Young said.

Were they toys and they were just practicing for their future or did these small children roll up with actual weapons?

That it lasted 6 weeks before an incident is actually surprising.

I went to school there in 1973. I don't recall anything like this happening back then. What changed?

I went to Howell Park Elementary in 1977. It was very “diverse”. Obviously, we were very poor. I can’t imagine the area having improved.

Wait wait wait...wasn't there recently an incident in Chicago where a lifeguard was accosted by young teens and it resulted in them getting shot?
And people were saying how unlikely it was that the youths menaced the lifeguard?
This is just too on the nose.

I’m sure the folks in the southern part of the parish would have loved to have this kind of resource in their backyard.
Unfortunately, our tax dollars seem to only go to NBR.

Unfortunate that StrongSafety got banned before we could get his take on this

And of course, liberal WBRZ covered the story in their 6pm newscast but conveniently failed to mention any guns. Coincidence ??

Howell Park?
I wouldn’t be a bit surprised.
