A 6-month-old baby was kidnaped and burned to death in north Louisiana overnight, police say.

According to the Natchitoches Police Department, police received a 911 call around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday that a baby had been taken from a home in Mayberry Trailer Park. A mother said that two unknown subjects came to her trailer and started beating on her door. The woman told police that she opened the door and was sprayed with a substance, possibly mace. She fled the home and later circled back to discover that the baby was missing.

Around 10:20 p.m., police received a report of a fire near Breda Avenue. At the scene, officers found a baby with burns to his body. The boy was transported to a hospital in critical condition. He was airlifted to another hospital where he later died.

The Louisiana Fire Marshal's Office confirmed that it is working with local authorities in this case. The investigation into the incident continues.LINK

KALB - Child's Mother Arrested

quote:

NATCHITOCHES, La. (KALB) - The Natchitoches Police Department and the State Fire Marshal's Office told News Channel 5 that the mother of 6-month-old Levi Ellerbe has been arrested and charged in connection to his murder.

This arrest comes days after Felicia Marie-Nicole Smith was arrested for first-degree murder as well.

The baby's mother, Hannah Barker, 22, is charged with principal to first-degree murder. We were told now that an additional charge will be brought against Smith.

Levi Ellerbe was set on fire off of Breda Avenue on July 17.

The police department isn't releasing any more information at this point due to the high profile nature of the case. that means there's no word yet on a motive.

Can we get through our morning at least before having to read that fricked up story?

Had to repeat to myself "It's STILL going to be a great day" 3x after reading that headline OP. Damn.

I need to go hug my kids now.

Accounts of random, unidentified criminals doing horrific, high-profile acts are complete bullshite about 95% of the time from what I can tell

Right? So two strange men bang on her door, mace her, and her first instinct is to abandon her shelter and run out into the elements, leaving her child behind, instead of just slamming the door or running back in the house for a weapon or to hide?

2 random men do not show up at a trailer to burn a baby. This isn't 1988. Satanism is over.

Mother. Guilty.

Well, if you look at her story, she's basically crafted it to where

1. She can't ID the perps because of the mace
2. She has an excuse as to how to explain the magical disappearance of the child

The good part about this is that people like this are usually borderline retarded so she'll fold before too long. All the detectives have to do is keep asking her the same questions in more detail and she'll start singing.
