I live in a Tech savvy Austin and see absolutely no difference in the use of my iPhone 7 vs iphone 12 w/ the 5g service.
What am I missing here for some that may know? Is it kinda like clarity on a Television? I mean the Human eye can see so much it seems maybe I can’t tell the speed difference cause I’ve been using it but even when I initially switched I thought I can’t tell at all in speed of emails website ls or anything that I hoped I would.

It's not noticeable to me either. No need to put those ugly arse poles in people's yards.

From my layman's perspective, the difference would appear to be 1g.

At my business it's 5GUW and it sometimes is 1tb down and up. Usually about 750 up down

Have a 5g home box and its only 25 bucks a month with a cell plan

5G is really just marketing.

The difference won't be as noticable on mobile. The true benefit of 5G is that it's capable of faster speeds than most broadband carriers, so your house can become truly wireless and not rely on Comcast, Spectrum, etc for internet.

I’m sure some tech savvy person can explain this better than me, but the way it was explained here, you won’t really see a difference on your phones web browser, the difference is in what other internet-enabled things are able to work with the additional data 5G provides. Things like navigation, automated cars, etc. 5G has a shorter range though, so it requires many more towers. The way it was described to us, is to think of a massive wide packet of information but can only go short distance as opposed to a more narrow stream of data that could go along way.

AM vs FM hence amount of needed towers to distribute the speed sounds like

Isn't the main issue that most 5G is still being provided via low-band carrier freqs?

5G is not just about speed. Although the higher speed will definitely give boost to applications demanding higher bandwidth, like higher definition streaming, real time multi site collaboration, etc.

5G will be more about ultra low latency applications like Driver less cars, factory automation, and IoT.

IoT is about connecting millions of things to internet, which will be more conducive with 5G.

T-Mobile customers are the only ones experiencing something close to a true and somewhat seamless 5G experience. The others will get there but TMO had a 2-year head start and took advantage of it.

Verizon is by far the worst 5G network right now. It’s less of a 5G network and more a collection of 5G novelty sites.

AT&T as usual is the big bloated dinosaur in the middle.

Anyone else thought this was about drugs due to the lower case letters?

It makes sense you are an Ole Miss fan.

5G is used because they were able to insert small microchips inside of us with the Covid vaccine and there are small boxes in those 5G towers that collect data on everyone.

I upgraded recently from an iPhone 6 to the 13 or whatever the latest is

I would say it is noticeable over technology from 7 years or so ago

Yup. Low-band is only good for around current 4G. It's the mid and high band where you see the gigabit and gigabit+ speeds.

If you have a true 5G capable phone, and you're only pulling around 4G speeds, your area deployed low-band and not mid-band.

This as well. Not to mention 5G can carry many, many more simultaneous users due to the frequencies it operates at.

which is almost everyone right now. antenna placement is improper and will take a long time to get right. no one on this thread so far has a clue about the main problem with 5g.
