This is me. Regardless of what people say, Toyota (and Honda) are head and shoulders above any other manufacturer in quality, reliability and resale value.

Same here. Made the mistake of buying a Chevy Silverado a few years ago and it was the biggest POS I've ever owned. Nothing but problems and had to fight Chevy to fix them. The cheap plastic interior was falling apart just months after I bought it. I'll ride a mule before I purchase another GM product.

I have a 2012 4Runner and the wife has a 2014 Acura MDX. Absolutely no problems with either, and the engines are bullet proof. I'll take Japanese engineering over the cost cutting engineering of GM any and all day.

I have a 1997 4Runner with 225,000 miles. Love it. When I've had to have work done on it every mechanic wants to buy it from me. 70% of 97 and 98 4Runners are still on the road. Maybe the most reliable vehicle ever made.

My mom drove a '94 for 220-230k miles, gave it to my dad to drive to his boat from 2006 until 2008 with no issues. Sold it to my dad's business partner (shrimper) in 2008 and he is still driving it to this day.

Mom wanted another SUV so we bought a 4runner in 2006 and that is still running, sitting at 110k miles.

Yea I know. I currently own two of them, 80 & 100 series. I will get the 200 in a few years. Been eyeing the 2013-2015 LC.

To the original poster, go test drive a 200 series for the hell of it. Maybe pick up a used one if its in your budget.

Same

I could probably sell it for what I bought it for after putting 60k miles on it. Hold value really well just like the Cruisers and Tacos

Bought a late 3rd gen for the wife this year.

Stuck it on coilovers in the front, ome springs in the rear, and bilsteins.

Runs great.

Only thing I don't Like about it is in need of new cats. But that is the previously owners fault.

My dad had a 93 that he gave to me, then I bought a 2006 sport edition v8 and gave him back the 93. The 93 still runs fine but has A/C troubles. My 06 was been great. Haven't done anything except oil changes, tires and brakes.

I've owned an '01 and an '03. I never had a single mechanical issue with either and drove the piss out of them. I would buy them again in a heartbeat. Do it.

Had a 96. Drove it up mountains, across small rivers, through thigh high snow. Absolutely stellar off road performance.

2008 with 130k, I'll bump thread when I reach 200k, and 300k...because I am not getting rid of it for a LONG time.
