I live in LA and didn’t even feel it.

A 3.8 Quake (by itself) in LA is the seismic equivalent to a DavidtheGnome post here.

an earthquake on Earth day?

A 3.8 is about as violent as being in a car as it drives over a rail road crossing at the posted speed limit.
It might wake the baby. It might not.

I would post the "We will rebuild" meme with the white plastic lawn chair tipped over, but that would be giving too much credit to a 3.8 magnitude

This.
There was a 3.8 when I was there last summer after the big one in Ridgecrest.
I would have never known it if my friend phone didn't give him a notification. I was like "Damn, my first earthquake and I didn't even feel it. lucky I guess"

A 3.8 in LA is like a fart in the wind

depth and geology and topography make all the difference. are you on bedrock or landfill?
"we" had a 4.1 last month that shook the house a while. locally its not fault lines but magma.
two volcanos spitting distance.
