Gravel roads have to be in the 90% range in rural kansas.
There are only 13 towns above 30000 in the whole state. Nine of them are within 60 miles of KC.

I can see an 82 year old being oblivious and not realizing they hit something. Or, thinking they may have hit something, stopping to look in their mirror and proceeding on if there is not anything obvious. I do not believe she stopped, turned around and went to "check the area" and noticed nothing.
Anything is possible, I just don't believe it and think it's her excuse because of the hit & run charge

I don't even like driving my car at night on country roads. 55 mph with no shoulder and no streetlights and people doing 75-80. Yeah, no thanks.

Did it happen at night? Because that is not much shoulder on the road to be rollerblading down? Brings back a memory when i was in college delivering a pizza down youngsville Hwy in the middle of the night. The shoulder was about as big as the one this guy was killed on . Guy in a electric wheel chair driving it on shoulder of road with no reflectors or anything. How i missed him i will never know ?but that guy must have wanted to die .Just glad it was not me doing it..

It could be fatal slower than that, but that's not what I was going for.
I don't know that they'd look at the roller blader and say it was low light, no reflective gear on a 55 mph road with no shoulder. That all adds up to a really bad decision by the rollerblader to take that route.

Agree. Almost assured most drivers are going faster than 55 on that road.

If it was dark (or even twilight) and he was rollerblading on that road without reflective gear......it is hard to fault a driver. There is no shoulder there that can be skated on. You would have to be in the actual road/path of travel. That's very poor decision making.

Of course. Which means fruit-bootin on a 55 mph road may not be the wisest choice. While that does not (presumably) absolve the lady from fault, the roller-skater is increasing his risk of accident unnecessarily.
