Should have drain and filled the transmission and diffs by now along with transfer case. It's fairly easy to do. Same with plugs. There's some small exhaust fittings you need to take off to get to the plugs but it's fairly straightforward. Just an fyi just nothing but the Toyota WS transmission fluid. Aftermarket fluids are ok for the diffs though.

And they will let a lube tech do it. If you’re capable of turning a wrench you should do it yourself and only spend $60 for the plugs.

Toyota used to try and sell everyone new hubs at 60K. So your list doesn’t seem too extreme, other than the cost.
I’m a fluid and filters guy so if I wasn’t going to do it myself I’d let them do it.
The fuel injectors and spark plugs are probably overkill.
The throttle body cleaning will give you a noticeable smoother idle. The PCV valve is maybe 10 bucks and should be replaced. Your MAF sensor should be cleaned as well. The MAF takes exactly 10 seconds to clean.
Odd that they want to do your front differential gear oil and not the rear as well.
If you decide to do it yourself make sure to look up and get the correct Toyota approved fluids.
Also, none of that stuff is an immediate emergency. If you plan on keeping it forever find a reliable trusted mechanic, look up and buy all the correct fluids and put them in the back and let him do it.

Go get:
Four gallons of valvolile max life dex merc.
6 quarts 75w whatever synthetic gear oil, valvoline bags or easy. Gl5 rating
Three cans of berryman chemtool b12 fuel treatment
Step one, warm vehicle slightly driving a mile or so.
Step two, drains transfer case. Refill with gear oil.
Step three, drain front and rear diff, refill with gear oil.
Step four, using a clean pan, drain transmission. Measure amount. Should be 4.6ish qts. Refill with exact same amount.
Step 5, dump a can of berryman in the fuel tank.
Step 6, go drive around for five minutes.
Step 7, drain and refill transmission again.
Step 8 repeat 6 and 7 again. (You can only drain 40% of the fluid. It takes 9ish drain and fills to get purity above 99%, screw that. Drain and fill 3 times and then just drain and fill once every 30k miles.)
Step 9, replace cabin air filter with oem.
Step 10, replace air filter with OEM.
Step 11, grease prop shaft and spiders.
All of this can be done for under $200, a metric socket set, a funnel, some rags, and a drain pan.

There is NOTHING unique about the toyota fluid. It isn't even a high specced fluid. Even mid 90s transmission fluid would be more than adequate for an aisin transmission. It should be... They've been the same for 40 years

Your manual should give you the maintenance schedule.
Doesn’t look like there is any major service due at 100k miles.

Labor time books are bullshite...Corrupt arse shite.
I believe they write those with times where no power tools are used.
Shops wouldn't make money if their staff actually took the time to complete book time.
Find a mobile mechanic who is trustworthy.
I found one and feel lucky

Thats an expensive bottle of "treatment" to pour into the gas tank.
He could drive down to Grand Isle and see some Sea Foam.

bringing a 7-8 year old car to the dealership is never smart
Posted on 12/30/25 at 8:01 pm to TigeRoots
They're trying to rape you, bad. You don't need to bring it to a dealer. Any competent independent shop will do all that for a fraction of the cost, and are easy to find if you do a little digging.

Dealers make money and charge a premium for services. Shop around for a better price or DIY but the recommended services aren't out of line.
The service intervals in the owners manual are not necessarily what needs to be done to maximize vehicle life.
Service Transfer Case- Yes needs to be done and should have been done long ago, no oil has infinite life.
Clean your throttle Body-Yes needs to be done and is commonly part of a "tune-up" on a modern vehicle. These modern cars shite where they eat with EGR systems.
Service your front Differential- Yes needs to be done and should have been done long ago, no oil has infinite life.
Clean your fuel injection system- Commonly called an "induction service" and it's typically much more than just dumping some STP in the fuel tank. Have you been using top tier fuel all the time? Have you been using Techron additive every oil change? Up to you to get this done or not but if the vehicle is getting good mpg now consider it optional.
Service your transmission- should have been done long ago IMHO. Does this include dropping the pan and chaning the ATF filter? (it should). Is this a fluid exchange or just a "spill and fill"? Important questions you should ask. Your "lifetime transmission fluid" will be just that if you never change it.
Change spark plugs-Plugs are due. How long do you think they should last? 200k? 300k? Don't like the price? DIY or get another quote. Keep in mind many Amazon and ebay parts are counterfeit.

Surprised they didn’t hit you up for a timing belt replacement.

its a toyota you only need to change oil, air filter, and plugs on the regular. i wouldnt let them touch the transmission fluid or diff fluids. if it makes you feel better i have 220k on my toyota and none of the diff/transfer fluids have been changed

Rule #1 for regular out of warranty maintenance never, under any circumstances take your vehicle to a dealership for service
Find a local mechanic with good ratings and take it there. Bonus if you call before hand and they say they are slammed and can’t fit you in that day (that means they’re good)
I took my 2018 Tahoe into a local shop last year for the same type of 100k mile check in and all he said to do was change the spark plugs and start changing oil at 5-6k miles to keep the lifters in my GM 5.3 happy.
With a 2018 Toyota which is a very good year Toyota I wouldn’t do anything but change the oil and plugs but take it somewhere local

At least they didn’t quote her the blinker fluid replacement. That one is costly.
