Haven’t you seen the episode where Barney buys the used car that was only driven to church?

My Grandmother (no pics) had a Caddy for over 10 years and had a whopping total of 35000 miles on it. Four door Brougham clean as frick. We sold it in less than and hour for cheap. Used to see it from time to time, not anymore.

My grandmother would only put about 1000/yr on her land yacht. She went to the beauty parlor, church and Piggly Wiggly once a week. Maybe the occasional side trip. And she still flipped out when we took away the keys.

My neighbor just bought an 03' Highlander with 43,000 miles from his Ex-Wife for $3500 just to pull his boat (he has a small aluminum hull). He traded in his 2019 Toyota Tacoma with 3200 miles on it to get a Camry..... old people do odd shite.

Casually looking online for a vehicle. I see this. It's not some sort of collector weekend toy sort of deal. It's a regular everyday driver 4 door sedan (Audi A4 to be exact). How does a 6+ year old car possibly have so few miles?

There’s a 1993 Toyota pickup on Cars and Bids with 42k miles.

One time my grandmother gave me her car. It was 10 years old with a little less than 50k miles on it.

I turned 15 and got my driver's license and my first car all on the same day in 1982. I bought a 1969 Ford Fairlane 4 door from a little old lady in our church. She was the original owner. It was a 13 year old car and had 1,800 miles on it. I paid her $400.

Interestingly, in 2007 I bought a used BMW Z-4. Kind of a mid life crisis vehicle. Bought it from a doctor in Dallas. He warned me he only had one key, and that if I lost it, the cost to replace it would be $450. We both laughed when I told him I only paid $400 for my first car.

Don't you live in Manhattan?

That's one other scenario that makes sense.

That would be an average of 9 miles per day if they only drove to work and back during that time.

Or they don’t drive to work.

Recently had to take the keys to my grandmother’s 2014 Toyota 4-runner. Just hit 42,000.

Since it's an Audi, it's probably been in the shop most of that time.
