Casually looking online for a vehicle.

I see this. It's not some sort of collector weekend toy sort of deal. It's a regular everyday driver 4 door sedan (Audi A4 to be exact).

How does a 6+ year old car possibly have so few miles?

Sounds like the driver was an innie instead of an Audi

Short commute coupled with using spouse's car for any "fun" travel? A4 could have been their weekend fun car?

someone works from home and/or has a company vehicle and has a second vehicle for other trips?

I doubt I've put 12k miles on my personal truck in the last 6 years because I have a company truck and we use my wife's vehicle for almost everything else

my truck is basically used on the weekends for projects

In 2013, I bought an 8 year old pickup truck with only 8,000 miles on it

Probably a lease return. Or a service loaner.

The carfax will be able to tell you for sure.

Around 260 working days in a year...so, that would be around 1,300 working days in the last 5 years (if purchased at the end of 2017 or early 2018). That would be an average of 9 miles per day if they only drove to work and back during that time. Now, if they worked from home for 2.5 years due to COVID lockdown...that would change it to around 18 miles per workday. Still...crazy low, but I guess it could happen. This would mean zero driving on weekends and Holidays.

Overall...there is pretty much zero chance that this is a "daily driver" with so few miles. It would have to have some intention for not driving to keep them so low.

I get the idea that there are a number of people who will keep a pickup for very occasional type use. It just seems stranger for me for a rather mundane little 4 door sedan.

I got a 2018 with 27k on it. Helps that my round trip commute averages out to 5 miles a day. Got an 89 with 56k on it. Guy just didn’t go anywhere in it

I've had my truck for 21 yrs and only @ about 140K. I had another car to drive back and forth to work for about 6 yrs. So I used my truck for weekends to go fish or get dirt, wood, plants, etc. The other 5 days it sat. But my last 3 yrs I've put on about 25K miles.

$28,590 on Carvana.

You think that's a good deal? I wonder what it went for new in 2017.

My guess is this.

It is why you should go to church and be involved.

I bought a 10 year old car in 2017 that had 40k on it. Maybe even less. We assume it was either a vacation car or an old lady owned it who never drove.

I’ve only put 40k on it in the following 6 or so years I’ve owned it and with remote work am barely putting 1000 or so on it even now as we also have another car that’s our daily/travel car.

It looks basically pristine in the online pics.
