It's so similar to the Dante Wright situation it's unbelievable.

I mean, that dude got back into his car. This dude in this video got out and was pummeling the arresting officer. Not exactly the same situation.

It doesn't excuse a trained officer confusing her gun with her taser at all. But this dude was on top of the officer and beating the shite out of him.

I'm sure cops confusing the two happens way more than I am comfortable admitting. I don't know what the solution is either...maybe make different latches on their holsters? Who knows. Confusing a deadly weapon with a non-deadly one is inexcusable. But so is getting pulled over (for a legitimate reason), not cooperating, and then getting out and beating the frick out of a cop.

Taser never should have shaped the weapon like a gun and I can't fathom why it has a trigger. Put a button or switch to activate it. It's electric, it doesn't need a trigger.
Pistol grip and trigger provides a design that's easy to grip, aim, and deploy with one hand. How else would you design it without being less efficient to use?

The police issued tasers are bright yellow for a reason. And they're usually carried on officer's non-dominant side vs their gun being on their dominant hand side. Those 2 things should make it plenty easy enough to distinguish between whether you're reaching for your gun or taser.

Ok this one is slightly different. The guy was beating the cop, after all, so it’s not AS bad.

Jeez, I know he survived in the end, but I feel absolutely zero sympathy for the guy who was shot.

He was the upmost Karen the entire time. The cop was cool and level-headed. Guy said he needed to pick up his kids and make it on time to work. The cop assured him that he could have him on his way in less than 5 minutes. The guy than demands to speak with a supervisor multiple times. "Tell your supervisor to come here, I have a right to speak to your supervisor."

Yea buddy, that's not how it works at all. You might want to stop getting your legal "facts" from Facebook memes.

This should end the argument. You start to wrestle with an officer, you should expect that you would get shot. Not sure why people think that is okay.

It all goes back to resisting. 99% of these issues don't occur if you don't resist.

I just don't get it.

Why revert to acting like a 10yo in these situations? Do they figure if they're a huge pain in the arse, the officer will just say "frick it" and go away?

I meant with both women both pulling a gun thinking it's a taser and both saying 3 times, taser, taser, taser.

That part is identical.

Maybe like a stun gun? No way you don't realize you have pulled your 9mm instead of something shaped like a stun gun.

I'm wondering if this should just be classified as one of those frick-ups that comes with certain professions. Absolutely every single one of us have fricked up at our jobs before.

Thinking in terms of professional sports. You will see defensive backs forget their coverage responsibility, and allow a wide open touchdown. Or an offensive lineman that blocks the wrong person for the scheme, and it leaves a wide open sack. You have NBA players who have shot a basket on the wrong goal.
Or of course, freaking JR. Smith, a 12 year veteran and he didn't know how much time remained on the clock in the NBA finals.

We all frick up. It just happens to be that none of our frick-ups has the ability to result in someone dying. I still believe cops should be held accountable, but just some perspective to think about.

I'm pretty sure that's SOP. Let's your partner to get out of the way.

Yep. You're chances of winning the battle go up exponentially.

On the other hand, you're chances of taking an arse whipping by multiple cops or getting your lights permanently put out by a trigger happy, scared cop go up exponentially if you decide to fight right there in the side of the road.

You would think with how often police brutality is on the black community, you would think the blacks would have figured out that trying to run away or fighting with cops usually ends up bad for them 98% of the time. And a lot of this stuff is over simple stupid shite. You would think they would learn by now.

When I got my license my dad said, "if you get pulled over shut the frick up and answer questions yes sir or no sir." Of course he also said to do that when interacting with any adult. It's almost like he knew that if you treat people with respect they will usually do the same to you.

Or missing free throws in the last seconds of a game to win or lose that you have taken 1000s of times.

Or hitting a bad shot in golf on Sunday on the back nine in contention.

But hey, maybe those professionals should ‘practice’ more....

Stress is a real bitch especially when serious injury or your life is on the line.

When will people start realizing that if you BREAK THE LAW the cops will be involved... with this current event, the victims family said he simply got shot for having expired tags..... NO.... he got shot because they tried to arrest him for an outstanding warrant in which HE chose not to show up for, and then would not comply and HE started the struggle..... but I will say that a 36 year veteran cop should have not mistaken her taser for her gun.... but again, it would not have happened if the dude would just have NOT broken the law...

Why was that dude swinging on the cops though?

Think about this. If I was a civilian, and that dude was attacking me, wouldn't I have the right to defend my self? And even at some point decide my life over his?

Tasha Domingue with Louisiana Highway Patrol did the same thing a few years back. Bet she’s watching these other events with interest.
