Militarization of police has more to do with policy and attitude than equipment.

while I agree, having such equipment only grows that attitude

The equipment just reinforced the "war with citizens" attitude

It would be the same thing if I gave Festus a Lear.

He couldn't afford to fly it, store it or even ride in it.

No, it reinforces the notion that they carry a bigger stick than the bad guys.

I am glad I am a law abiding citizen so I don't have to worry/fantasize about these conspiracy theories. I rest easy.

Get out of here with that logic. The police are gearing up to kill all of us, don't you watch the news??

no way was it a pistol. 125 yds and two luck shots, I doubt it.

What in the hell is important enough on a day to day basis that a normal individual will get pulled over for that they have to think about surviving the encounter?

I don't think that way and I don't think anyone has to feel that way. I think a majority of incidents that end up violent are because the individual getting pulled over escalated it to that level. I have never felt unsafe (I realize that doesn't really matter since I'm a middle class white guy), but I don't think anyone should feel they are in danger just because of a traffic stop. They may be harassed with legal BS, but they are not going to be harmed (for the most part) if they just comply. I don't think cops get physical (for the most part) until you get physical.

I never worry about the police. Until I see one behind me. Then I can't pay attention to driving because I am making sure I'm not going over the speed limit so I don't get pulled over and have my rights violated.

Back in the 90s it was about $5K an hour to operate a small Lear.

IDK what it is now, but it ain't went down.

It wasn't a knock on you, my point is "we" get to pay for all that free stuff.

It kinda does. The discussion, originally, was centered around the "justification" of the shooter, and that was one reason brought forth.

Ask a Jew or an American Indian that question and report back.

Is that really her?

"wait till this summer"

Seems like the cops are using the wrong weapons. Maybe they should trade in their guns for nitrogen cylinders and cool these folks off since they seem to be cold blooded creatures.
