Editing this as the initial news report was incorrect and the video showed the Addis cop was the lead car.

That’s such a “cop” out. He was being a complete prick to me based on information I knew, personally attacked me and my family.

Sorry if I want to call him a dickhead for it. And to then try and turn the teens death and guilt on me is such a shitty thing to do on top of that. Take your personal vendetta elsewhere

go fight him elsewhere if you’re so upset but nobody cares if your feelings were hurt

SO you think thugs will run on the initial contact attempt, BUT, after the chase is called off and the "radios and cameras" alert police to their location later on, they won't run when the police try to stop them on the 2nd attempted contact?
Are you suggesting that the majority of arrests involve a high speed chase?

I can't see what could possibly be the repercussions if a Police Chief got on TV and announced that the police will no longer be able to chase criminals.
That is not what I said.

frick man you've got this whole thing figured out.
Not the whole thing, but I'm pretty sure police work can be done effectively without unnecessarily endangering innocent lives.

When someone kicks in your door be sure to tell the cops you don’t want them to pursue the suspect if he’s located.
Again, do you think that can't or doesn't happen without a high speed chase?

Nobody from BRPD nor the suspect did anything yesterday that harmed anyone. Addis PD should’ve never been involved and they will likely pay heavily for it in court. You can’t blame something on Person A because Person B went rogue several miles away.
I'm not trying to place blame on a case by case basis. I'm blaming a policy which endangers hundreds of innocent lives.

Look guys I get it. It’s a tragedy and those girls didn’t deserve to die. You are all emotional and angry and need someone to hate so you’ve picked the easiest target without thinking about the people that started this whole horrible chain of events.

The cop should be liable as well.

It depends on how the accident occurred really.

Pursuing a suspect does not give you unlimited freedom to do what needs to be done to make the arrest.

You can’t shoot recklessly through a crowd of people, for example.

If there wasn't a high speed chase then nobody would have run into anyone. I'm tired of everyone justifying this shite with "well let's just let all the criminals go then" as if it's alright that innocent people get killed regardless of the crime committed. If the perp is an imminent danger to the public, then yeah engage in a high speed chase if necessary. Otherwise use the radios, cameras, aircraft, etc to apprehend them safely. Or, you know, just wait where they are likely to go. Getting all excited about running someone down is a huge escalation that puts tons of innocents in danger. Might as well hang out the window and fire at the vehicle while you're doing it.

Trouble with all shite OweO is that no one knows when the perp becomes an imminent threat. If the cops let him go and HE is the one who kills the two girls or decides to commit another crime, you and everyone else will be asking where the cops were. Why was the criminal on a crime spree.

The pursuit was fine. The Addis officernwho was trying to Join the pursuit was at fault apparently. Even I admit that. And I was originally defending the cop. If what I’ve learned today is true, I can’t defend that officer. But I can defend the other ones for the pursuit.

You think his relatives have money?

Also, it’s not necessarily his relatives’ fault he’s a dumbass.

This is horrible. An illegal use charge isn't a good enough reason for a high speed chase. While some departments train their personnel well engough to do a pursuit, some obviously don't.

Crap like this is evidence that many/most small town police departments shouldn't exist.

This is so heartbreaking and a needless loss of lives of two innocent teenagers. According to witnesses the cop didn’t have lights and sirens and ran a red light to catch up to a chase that was already out of his jurisdiction. This one is 100% on the cop bc he broke protocol.

Unless it’s an active shooter situation, no arrest is worth the life of innocent bystanders. You don’t drop a bomb on a school to stop an active shooter.
