Usually you are directed by the person who took your order to pull behind the car that is next in line.

"My pleasure, please pull behind the black Maybach" .

If she has a problem, just flash your piece out of the sun roof. This will quickly escalate or de-escalate the situation very quickly.

Zipper is the norm in my area.
No chick fil a here directs you which car to follow.

If someone is dumb enough to pull into a lane that's already 3 cars deep and places the order with one of the workers with the iPad. There's no reason that someone who pulls into the other lane needs to wait until all 3 cars from the other lane piddle their way through.

With that said a few of the chick Fil a here now either have a double lane all the way through(no drive thru window, but just a large sliding door the workers walk out to your car) or they have a dedicated line for mobile order and another for drive thru.

just received a thorough cussing from a gentleman in the other lane because I proceeded to pull from the two lane to one lane like a zipper.

It’s not a traffic merge situation. Food line is different. Whoever orders first, proceeds first. Real simple.

They have a couple already. I think the one on Jefferson by Earhart is a 2 laner.

This right here. I do the same at In n Out here in SoCal. Drive thru is a shite show. I park and go in and the place is damn near empty. Get my food and walk out and the cars have barely moved

Turn your hazards on when you zipper merge and cut him off is the obvious answer. He needs to be able to see you.

These people will tell you that’s risking lives.

What’s the proper etiquette here. It’s a zipper, right?

The order taker tells you which car to follow. If you disobey that instruction your food should be forfeit and you need to banned.

If they don’t do this, then the zipper is appropriate.

I go behind the auto the lady tells me to go behind.

Not doing this holds no upside worth it to me.

If the other side clearly already ordered and was pulled up some yeah you’re the a-hole. If it was pretty much the same time or you’re both not moving at all zipper away

Our Chick fil a is different.

First, why would I be paying attention to people in the other lane and the second that they are done ordering?
Our Chick fill has the order taker walk down the line (essentially taking 3 orders at once... not just the front of the queue).

Second, our Chick fil a has an attendant after the order to get everyone's names to assist in the delivery window where they run food to 3 cars a time.

It is essentially a zipper at the front. But if the lead car is stalled, no one is waiting for the zipper. Chick fil a confirms the order immediately after.

He was adamant that he should go first because he ordered first in his lane with the attendant like it’s done at McDonald’s.

My response would have been I ordered ahead from my driveway using the app because I’m not a damn Philistine.

I think he's right. You go by who ordered first. At least that makes the most sense for the folks working the window.

I would think this. Otherwise someone with a huge order or who can’t make their minds up etc would end up holding both lines because of well the zipper
